There’s a brilliant Keith Flint tribute in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla

“Smack my bishop.”

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla contains an unexpected tribute to The Prodigy’s Keith Flint.

Credit for this discovery goes to Rock Paper Shotgun guides editor Jake Green, who found the mission and posted its details on Twitter yesterday.

Head to Essex, The Prodigy’s home county, and to the rough location of North End, the hamlet near Braintree where Flint passed away in March last year, aged just 49.

There you’ll find a band playing, and a man named Keith with familiar-looking spiked hair who invites Eivor to dance.

Lyrics to the song include the line: “Smack my bishop! Smack my bishop!”

When the world event concludes, if you didn’t get the references already, it is named on-screen as The Prodigy.

There are hundreds of these world events within Valhalla’s enormous map – though they are often far briefer than the side-quests found in previous games Origins and Odyssey.

“Valhalla’s winnowed quest structure feels like a decision made to provide a more focused tale,” I wrote in Eurogamer’s Assassin’s Creed Valhalla review, “one that is never left to wander all over the Mediterranean, but that instead directs you to specific parts of England, one at a time, before reporting back to your settlement for a debrief.”
