Star Wars Squadrons just got 120fps support on Xbox Series X/S, but not PS5

Star Wars Squadrons received a big new patch today that squashes a few bugs and adds 120fps support on the Xbox Series S and X.

EA previously outlined Star Wars Squadronsnext-gen patch, in which the publisher promised would add a slew of new features to the game on both Sony and Microsoft consoles. However, only the latter set of hardware is going to get the option to play the game at 120fps.

PlayStation 5 players aren’t being left behind entirely, though, as “improved visual quality and lighting” have been added for Sony’s next-gen console, alongside variable frame rate support (if your TV can deal with it).

Xbox players have slightly more new options to play with: if you choose improved visual quality, the game will have a focus on providing improved lighting, where it will run at up to 1440p at 60fps on the Xbox Series S and up to 2160p at 60fps on the Xbox Series X.

If you choose the performance mode, the game will run up to 1440p at 120fps, or up to 2160p at 120fps depending on if you’re playing on the Series S or Series X, respectively.

If that’s not enough to encourage you to jump back into the game, there’s also a whole suite of new features in the game, including a new map (Foster Haven) for Dogfight and Fleet Battles, a ton of new cosmetics, improved matchmaking and a whole fleet of bug fixes.

Going forward, EA has suggested you probably shouldn’t expect any post-launch add-ons for Squadrons – so don’t expect too much in the way of major updates in the future.
