The best Genshin Impact Sayu build transforms the work-shy ninja into an Anemo powerhouse or a potent healer, depending on what you need.
She might not shatter the competition like Ayaka, but Sayu has strong ability to chain Elemental Reactions across a wide swathe of the battlefield. Sayu retains just as much of her potential in our F2P build as well.
Genshin Impact Sayu build guide | Is Sayu DPS?
Sort of. Sayu has good Elemental DPS potential, but like a few other four-star characters, she also comes with healing options. Either way, the best choice is building Sayu’s attack to take advantage not just of her own damage potential, but the Elemental Absorption effect her Skill triggers as well.
Genshin Impact Sayu build guide | The best Sayu build
Sayu’s biggest assets are her Skill and Burst, and you can build her to enhance either one.
The best Sayu weapon
If you want to maximize the Elemental Absorption effect from Sayu’s Skill, the Wolf’s Gravestone claymore is a good option. Its secondary stat increases the wielder’s attack, and the special skill boosts it by a further 20%.
Unlike Swirl, Elemental Absorption draws its power from the user’s damage instead of from the existing element. The increased attack power serves Sayu well in normal combat. However, it also makes her support potential even more valuable when using Fuuin Dash and gives the Muji-Muji Daruma better healing ability.
Alternatively, if you want to build Sayu around her Burst, Skyward Pride is a good choice. This one increases all damage by 8-12%, but also increases Energy recharge. That means Sayu can summon the Muji-Muji Daruma more often and either heal the party or deal Anemo damage to nearby enemies.
You’ll want to consider increasing her attack with Artifacts in this build to augment the Daruma’s healing efficacy.
The best Sayu Artifacts
You have a few choices for Sayu’s Artifact sets depending on which build style you choose.
A Sayu intended for healing should have at least some Maiden Beloved Artifacts.
- 2-piece effect: Healing effectiveness +15%
- 4-piece effect: Using an Elemental Skill or Burst increases healing received by all party members by 20% for 10s
The two-piece effect for Scholar or The Exile is a nice complement since it increases Energy recharge.
Sayu intended for DPS should focus on enhancing her attack and Elemental power. Ideally, that includes a full Viridescent Venerer set, though you can supplement it with Noblesse Oblige if the full bunch is hard to find.
Viridescent Venerer
- 2-piece effect: Anemo damage +15%
- 4-piece effect: Increases Swirl damage by 60%. Decreases opponent’s Elemental resistance to the element infused in the Swirl by 40% for 10s.
Noblesse Oblige
- 2-piece effect: Elemental Burst damage +20%
- 4-piece effect: Using an Elemental Burst increases all party members’ attack by 20% for 12s. This effect cannot stack.
Genshin Impact Sayu build guide | The best Sayu build for F2P players
Sayu has a perfectly viable F2P build thanks to the new Inazuma weapons.
The best Sayu weapon for F2P
The new Katsuragikiri Nagamasa claymore, obtained through forging, is your best free choice for Sayu. It boasts an impressive attack stat for a four-star weapon, plus a hefty Energy recharge rate for its secondary stat. The Nagamasa’s special skill increases the wielder’s Elemental Skill damage by 6-12% and offers a slight boost to Energy recharge.
The best Sayu Artifacts for F2P
Since the Katsuragikiri Nagamasa revolves around Sayu’s Elemental abilities, her Artifacts should do the same.
The Viridescent Venerer/Noblesse Oblige set should be your go-to for this build. However, if you want to make Sayu more balanced, you could opt for Pale Flame instead.
- 2-piece effect: Damage +25%
- 4-piece effect: When an Elemental Skill hits an opponent, attack increases by 9% for 7s. This effect stacks up to two times and can be triggered once every 0.3s. Once two stacks are reached, the 2-set effect is increased by 100%.
Genshin Impact Sayu build guide | The best Sayu party comp
Sayu is a rare instance where Elemental Resonance doesn’t matter too much. Her best attacks won’t rely on stamina, and the 5% CD reduction for her Skill isn’t that big of a bonus.
Since Sayu’s Skill makes her mobile, a good party is one that can inflict Elemental damage on a wide scale. Some possible choices include:
- Yoimiya
- Xiangling
- Mona
- Xingqiu
- Fischl
- Razor
- Chogyun
Sayu needs a few of the new Genshin Impact items to level up. Crystal Marrow is for character Ascension, and if you’ve completed Chouji’s quest, you know where to find those already. Her Talent materials, Teachings of Light, come from Violet Court, the same as Yoimiya‘s Transcience items.
