Genshin Impact Yoimiya build, banner, materials, and more

Genshin Impact Yoimiya is the second new five-star character introduced in the Genshin Impact 2.0 update.

She’s the owner of Nagohanhara Fireworks in Inazuma and developed a reputation both for her brilliance firework displays and joyful personality. Yoimiya wields a bow, uses Pyro attacks, and has the strength to potentially match even Diluc in combat.

Genshin Impact Yoimiya release date

The Yoimiya release date will likely be sometime around August 11. Genshin updates tend to last six weeks, with a new banner starting halfway through, and Ayaka’s banner begins July 21 when the 2.0 update releases.

Genshin Impact Yoimiya banner: Tapestry of Golden Flames

Yoimiya is naturally the spotlight character in her own banner, but she’s joined by the new four-star character Sayu. Most banners have a headline character and three additional ones. At this point, however, it’s not yet certain who the other two will be in the Yoimiya banner aside from her and Sayu.

Genshin Impact Yoimiya skills

Normally, every bow user shares the same basic attack talents, but Yoimiya is a bit different. Her standard attack is the usual five consecutive bow shots. Her charged attack introduces an extra charge level beyond the usual.

Charging beyond that will generate up to three Kindling Arrows (depending on how long you charge) that seek out opponents and deal Pyro damage.

Niwabi Fire-Dance (Yoimiya Elemental Skill)

  • Yoimiya wields a sparkler and surrounds herself with saltpeter. All normal attacks turn into Blazing Arrows that deal Pyro damage and have increased damage output. Cannot generate Kindling Arrows while active.

Ryuukin Saxifrage (Yoimiya Burst)

  • Yoimiya hurls fireworks that explode and deal AoE Pyro damage, marking one opponent with Auros Blaze
  • Any attack, Skill, or Burst used by characters other than Yoimiya that connect with the Blaze-marked enemy will trigger an explosion. Can occur every two seconds.
    • If the opponent dies before the effect dissipates, it passes to another nearby foe

Genshin Impact Yoimiya Ascension materials: What to farm for Yoimiya

Genshin Impact Yoimiya build

You can build Yoimiya in a couple of viable ways, depending if you want to maximize elemental damage or just use her as a powerful DPS character.

Yoimiya weapon

Whatever your build, the new forge-able Demon Slayer Bow is a solid choice for the best Yoimiya weapon. Demon Slayer’s refinement skill increases normal and charged attack damage by a significant amount. It’s easier to acquire than other four-star weapons, so maxing out the refinement skill is easier.

Yoimiya Artifacts

Crimson Witch of Flames is an obvious choice for Yoimiya. The two-piece set increases Pyro damage by 15%, and the four-piece bonus boosts Burning, Vaporize, Melt, and Overload power.

Pale Flame is a good alternative for enhancing Yoimiya’s already formidable attack power. In addition to boosting physical damage by 25%, the four-piece set bonus increases attack when an Elemental Skill is used.

Is Yoimiya worth pulling?

Yoimiya’s attack power rivals Diluc’s and Ganyu’s, and her Burst makes the fireworks genius a kind of superpowered Amber. Homing Pyro arrows and the potential for triggering multiple explosions during a fight mean Yoimiya is a strong choice for dealing with mobs up close or at a distance. Her main drawback is that, unlike Ayaka or even Sayu, Yoimiya is focused on combat alone and has no special exploration or healing potential.

If your Genshin Impact team lacks a good Pyro character, Yoimiya might fill that spot. If not, maybe save your Primogems for the 2.1 banners.
