© WB GamesIt always seemed like there was a chance of Mortal Kombat 11 on Nintendo Switch falling behind the other versions and today might be the day. It’s not been left out in the cold by itself though, as PC players have also being shafted.
The official Mortal Kombat Twitter account has announced NetherRealm will be adding cross-play across generations to the eleventh entry in the ultra violent fighting series. This will allow PlayStation 4 and Xbox One players to fight PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S users.
If you were hoping for Switch (and even PC) to join the cross-play party alongside this update, since this feature’s beta rollout last December, it seems it really won’t be happening. At the very end of the latest tweet, it’s mentioned (once again) how the feature will “not be available” on Nintendo Switch or PC.
“On Nov 17, Krossplay will become Kross Generation for Playstation & Xbox players. Toggle the feature in settings to play Casual matches w/ players on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series XIS, & Xbox One, as well as in designated Online Rooms. This feature will not be available on Switch or PC.”
Over on the official support site for the game, there’s a question asking if “krossplay” allows players on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One to fight against PC, Switch or Google Stadia players. Unfortunately, the same response has been there for about a year now:
“No, the Krossplay feature in Mortal Kombat 11 does not support PC, Nintendo Switch or Stadia at this time.”
No reason has to been provided as to why these versions of the game won’t be receiving cross-play anytime soon, but if anything does change, we’ll be sure to let you know.
