Metroid Dread Pre-Order

Metroid Dread is the five mainline entry in the 2D Metroid games and will be released on the Nintendo Switch on October 8, 2021. It’s developed by Mercury Steam, the same studio responsible for Metroid: Samus Returns on the 3DS.

We learned a lot about Metroid Dread during its initial reveal, as well as the extended gameplay footage shown at Nintendo’s Treehouse presentation. It’s a direct sequel to the Gameboy Advance title, Metroid Fusion, which was released in 2002, so should clear up some of the story gaps in the main timeline.

While this is still a side-scrolling shooter with all the action you’d expect from a 2D Metroid, the addition of a new enemy named E.M.M.I, marks a significant change to how you’ll traverse the map.

The enemy is essentially a robot stalker that relentlessly pursues you in certain areas. Get caught by E.M.M.I. and you’ll be instantly killed and sent back to the nearest spawn.

If you’re excited about Metroid Dread, you might want to give careful consideration to what version of the game you’re gonna grab. As well as a standard edition, there’s a special collector’s edition of Metroid Dread, which is a must-have for any die-hard Metroid fan.

Pre-orders for the last Metroid collector’s edition (Samus Returns) sold out quickly, so we’d recommend pre-ordering now to guarantee your copy.
