Chapter 6 Season 1 of Fortnite, formally called “Demon Hunters,” is here, meaning a new map, weapons, mechanics, and more for the battle royale that’s more popular than ever.

Hot off the heels of the “Remix: The Finale” event, Chapter 6 Season 1 introduces a Japan-themed map and concept. Demons (oni) are attacking the island, and you have to hunt them down using a slew of new tools at your disposal.

Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 1 weapons

In Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 1, all traditional weapons revert to hitscan functionality, doing away with the bullet drop that has been present since the start of Chapter 5. In other words, you no longer need to factor how far away your enemies are when shooting at them — your bullets will fly straight without losing any velocity or height.

Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 1 also introduces a number of new guns:

  • Holo Twister Assault Rifle
  • Fury Assault Rifle
  • Veiled Precision SMG
  • Surgefire SMG
  • Sentinel Pump
  • Twinfire Auto Shotgun
  • Oni Shotgun

Beyond that, when you equip the new Typhoon Blade melee weapon, you’ll sprint faster and burn less stamina when sprinting.

Lastly, you can get two types of oni mask. The Fire Oni Mask allows you to shoot fiery projectiles that home in on enemies, while the Void Oni Mask lets you teleport short distances.

What else is new in Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 1?

Beyond a new map and new weapons, the biggest changes for Fornite Chapter 6 Season 1 revolve around movement. Chapter 6 Season 1 adds four new parkour-style moves to your repertoire:

  • The wall scramble allows you to run up a vertical wall, and mantle a ledge (if possible)
  • The wall kick is basically a wall jump from any platformer
  • The roll landing, which is exactly when it sounds like, restores stamina
  • The ledge jump allows you to leap long distances if you sprint and jump off a ledge

Elsewhere, Chapter 6 Season 1 introduces sprites to Fortnite. Adorable little creatures (see above), sprites can do things like create healing fountains or vortices for traversal. And when you return them to sprite shrines, you’ll be granted a boon like faster reload speed or movement speed.

There are also two new medallions. Defeat the Shogun X miniboss to get the Wanderer Medallion, turning you invisible while you sprint and granting you infinite stamina. Defeat Night Rose to get the Night Rose Medallion, allowing your weapons to automatically reload.
