After somehow spawning a door that was lethal to players, Raven has introduced a new Call of Duty: Warzone patch that nerfs the popular MG 82 and fixes the scary door.
On Monday, we saw that an innocuous Salt Mines door was killing players, for some reason. This clearly wasn’t supposed to be happening and may have been tied to the Red Door fast travel system that was introduced with Season 4.
Now, though, Raven seems to have fixed the issue, and has updated its Season 4 patch notes to reflect the alteration. But that’s not all the ever-tinkering studio has changed.
You may have been made aware of the MG 82 LMG since Season 4 kicked off; it’s a new weapon that was introduced on June 17 and instantly saw widespread adoption in the battle royale game.
It was so popular, in fact, that Raven explicitly said it’s in line for a nerf just 24 hours after it arrived in the game. “The MG 82 (BOCW) made one too many trips to the Pack-a-Punch machine before deploying to Verdansk,” said the developer. “Element 115 is off limits in #Warzone so we will be making an adjustment to this Weapon soon.”
That time has come, sadly for any of you MG 82 users out there. Here’s what the developer has had to say on the nerf:
“We had envisioned the MG 82 (BOCW) as a short to mid-range Light Machine Gun given its relatively fast handling, mobility, and rate of fire. However, it also retained many powerful LMG traits like damage profile, bullet velocity, and magazine size all while having negligible recoil. These factors in combination created one of the most dominant weapons to land in Verdansk. Do not be deceived by the magnitude of these changes. The damage per magazine and rate of fire is still top tier so we expect the MG 82 to remain viable.”
And that’s not all; it looks like there are some changes coming to how perks work in the game, too.
“We are exploring all avenues in terms of changes to provide ‘fair’ and ‘reactable’ counterplay options to Dead Silence. A decision like this must be made carefully especially considering how it may destabilize other aspects of the game. We cannot promise anything at this moment but as we close in on an appropriate solution, we will share more details. Sit tight.”
Maybe one day soon, we’ll see Raven launch a new Call of Duty Warfare season without having to backtrack on too many of the additions.
