Mass Effect Legendary Edition gets FOV mod

Mass Effect Legendary Edition

The first important mod for Mass Effect Legendary Edition is here.

Though it brings with it so many changes, big and small, Mass Effect Legendary Edition does not offer an FOV slider for any of the three included games. Mass Effect fans will particularly remember how close the character model is to the camera, especially in the first game.

Enter the Better Camera mod from creator Jade, which lets you tweak the field of view (FOV) for all three Mass Effect games in the Legendary Edition. Unfortunately, this isn’t a slider you can tweak to your liking – you can only choose between from set FOVs: 80, 90 and 100 degrees.

It’s a bit annoying, especially since you may not always immediately figure out what the most optimal FOV for your setup is, but it’s helpful nonetheless. Just make sure to download the right FOV file for the right game, since three sets of them exist for every Mass Effect. You can see and download everything at Nexus Mods.

From there it’s just a matter of backing up your Coalesced.bin file and replacing it with the modded one you downloaded. There is also one known issue to keep in mind: the Mako cannon’s zoom-in sight doesn’t work with the mod, which isn’t a dealbreaker, but worth knowing about.

We’re bound to get so many more mods for Mass Effect Legendary Edition over the coming weeks, especially those that restore the original games’ level scaling and maybe even adjust the visuals to resemble the classic games more.
