We’re delighted to be sharing exciting news on the Planet Coaster: Console Edition‘s upcoming DLC. We’re bringing not one, but two incredible packs to Planet Coaster, both fit to burst with amazing new rides, stunning new scenery, blueprints, props, sound effects, and so much more.
Ghostbusters is our love letter to the 1984 hit movie, and the Studios Pack is a spectacular tribute to the silver screen. Ahead of their launch later this week across Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One, we’re here to give you all the must know details.
First, let’s talk Ghostbusters. We’ve put all of our love, knowledge, and enthusiasm for the franchise into this pack, and we really think it shows. Put simply, this is utterly authentic Ghostbusters action anyone can enjoy. Whether you’re familiar with the exploits of Raymond “Ray” Stantz and co., or completely new to the spectre-sucking thrills, you’re in for a treat.
Ghostbusters features one new flat ride, one new coaster, and an array of construction pieces and decorations for you to build your very own official Ghostbusters-themed areas. We’re particularly proud of the Ghostbusters Experience, a unique dark ride in which guests quite literally bust ghosts using their very own Proton Packs. Score points and aim for the high score table in this interactive experience as you or your guests ride the ECTO-1, clearing haunted locations.
The brand new coaster is equally unmissable. It’s called the RollerGhoster, a kiddie coaster helmed by Slimer himself. The goo-green ghost leads train carts around a moderately high-speed track that twists and turns – perfect for some of your park’s younger guests. Of course, you’ll want to make the areas around these rides as eye-catching as possible, and for that we’ve got just the thing: hundreds of scenery pieces and sounds straight from the movie, including the Ghostbusters HQ, Spook Central, and ECTO-1.
Build haunted hotels where colourfully translucent spirits lurk; introduce a towering Stay Puft Marshmallow Man to greet visitors; and even play through a brand new narrative campaign. The campaign employs the talents of Dan Aykroyd and William Atherton, who voice their roles as iconic Ghostbusters’ co-founder, Raymond Stantz, and Special Agent Walter Peck. Spearhead heroic efforts to free your attractions from ghosts and protect guests from paranormal phenomena. So be ready to answer the call – the Ghostbusters need your help.
Next, let’s talk the Studios Pack. It contains everything you need to build epic sets, blockbuster set-pieces, and awesome tours your guests will adore. We’ve encompassed multiple genres here, so we’ve got Wild West props to help you design old-school shootouts, zombie animatronics for intense horror vibes, and rigged vehicles that flip and crash so you can make chaotic downtown areas. My personal favourite is the train we’ve designed to careen straight off its tracks – that’ll shock everyone at the food court.
As well as serving up movie vibes, we’ve also got an array of items perfect for constructing behind-the-scenes stuff: green screens, cameras, clapperboards, and even crew members in a variety of poses. These are great on their own, but they’re even better when used in conjunction with Big Screen Tour, one of three theatrical new rides in the Studios Pack. Big Screen Tour is the Hollywood backlot tour experience brought to life, as powered buses with adjustable lengths bring guests face to face with elements from the silver screen. This would be a good place to use our new giant shark animatronic…
And let’s not forget our other two rides. Re-Motion is an advanced simulator that seats guests in pods controlled by an adjustable robotic arm. This lets you tilt and turn them in any direction, giving them 360 degrees of movie mayhem.
Finally, there’s Horror Heights, a classic drop tower ride that’s designed to work within buildings, plunging guests multiple storeys in seconds. What’s even better is, you can set up several drops – just when they think the ride’s over, drop them again! The blueprint included with the pack is set inside an office block overrun with undead. Here, riders are situated in an out-of-control elevator that takes them from the rooftop fire escape to a zombie-filled underground car park. You can choose to use this template wholesale, or create your custom riffs on the format using all of the quick and easy building tools available to you in Planet Coaster: Console Edition.
As an added bonus, we’re thrilled to announce that for a limited time only to celebrate the launch of these new packs, if you purchase any Planet Coaster: Console Edition DLC and a “Ghostbusters” movie between 4/29 and 5/12 from the Microsoft Store you’ll receive a $5 Xbox Gift Card! (US/CA Only).
Both the Studios Pack and Planet Coaster: Ghostbusters arrive April 29 on the Microsoft Store.
