Shin Megami Tensei 5 got a release date and alongside some new gameplay details at today’s E3 2021 Nintendo Direct.
The Nintendo Switch-exclusive RPG from Atlus is launching on November 11 in Japan, and November 12 in the rest of the world, lining up with previous release date for rumors we’d heard for the latest installment in the highly-acclaimed cult franchise.
As well as the trailer, we also heard many more details about the gameplay of the highly-anticipated game.
“The ambitions of god and human clash amidst the horror of a dying world. Neither human nor demon, the newly-forged Nahobino and his friends must decide what is worth saving… and prepare to sacrifice everything in its name,” reads a blurb for the game. “In a world without its Creator, which path will you choose?”
Check out the new trailer below.
Series staples like turn-based combat, demon negotiation and a ruined, post-apocalyptic world return in SMTV, and you play as a high school student that manages to find a path to another world called “Da’at” before fusing with a God-like entity to become a forbidden entity known as “Nahobino”.
From here, like in many previous Shin Megami Tensei games, the fate of the world will be in your hands.
Shin Megami Tensei 5 was announced back in January 2017, and we’ve heard precious little about the RPG since then. It was previously mentioned that we’d getting an English translation of the game – it’s nice to see that also means a simultaneous worldwide release.
Shin Megami Tensei 5 arrives exclusively on Nintendo Switch on November 12 worldwide.
