Greetings Xbox community! I’m Laurent Mercure from Chainsawesome Games and I’m thrilled to finally announce our release date for Knight Squad 2. Mark your calendar; our explosive medieval party game is all set to arrive on Xbox One on April 14 and you can pre-order today right here.
Since our first demo during the Summer of 2020, we have shared a ton of information about the new features awaiting Knight Squad players in the sequel. We have revealed the Payload mode, the Painter mode, the Minion Master mode and a ton of new power-ups but we kept one big addition a secret.
In Knight Squad 2, you’ll get to compete in a Tourney. We feel like it’s going to be the most popular way to play.
Needless to say, since the release of the first Knight Squad in 2015, we have watched a lot of people play our 8-player dungeon-brawler. We noticed that more often than not, friends spend a good amount of their game time together just deciding which of the many game modes to play. Too many times we’ve seen people playing only one mode (It’s always Last Man Standing) because it’s simpler that way, similar to binge-watching a TV series instead of trying that new movie your friends told you about. We love all of our game modes and even for us, it’s sometimes difficult to choose.
We also asked ourselves, why is the Last Man Standing mode so popular? Part of what makes this mode intense is it being one of the few modes that’s not on a timer. A player trailing the scoreboard with a big zero can make an exciting comeback and the tension just increases as the match progresses. Could all of the modes benefit from that building tension?
All of this thinking brought the Tourney mode to life.
In Tourney mode, you and your friends compete through a series of randomized matches with score-based objectives and the first player to gather three victories is crowned the champion. You can play it in Free-for-all, in Duos or in Squads and all 13 game modes are adapted to fit Tourney. For example, a match of Soccer will end automatically when a team reaches a score of 2 and a match of Gladiator will end when a player reaches a score of 500.
It’s simple, it’s hectic, it usually wraps up in under 10 minutes and it’s exactly what Knight Squad needed.
We can’t wait for the Xbox community to jump in Knight Squad 2 on April 14 and witness glorious Tourneys. Make sure you pre-order the game, join our Discord and gather your friends. Stay awesome!
