After a PEGI listing revealed the Blizzard Arcade Collection earlier today, Blizzard has officially announced it.
Blizzard Arcade Collection contains the first Lost Vikings, Rock n’ Roll Racing, and Blackthorne. All three titles were released during the 90s.
It is coming to PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One with quality of life updates. It will also be playable on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S via backwards compatibility.
The collection retails for $19.99 and is available now.
The Lost Vikings is a side-scrolling platform adventure originally released for Super NES in 1993 before heading to other platforms. The Mega Drive/Genesis version contained five stages not present in other versions and could be played by three players. It was re-released for Game Boy Advance and has been available through Battle.net as a free download. In the game, you control three Vikings each with their own abilities. You must make them work together to finish each level.
Rock n’ Roll Racing is a vehicular combat racing game that came out for Super Nintendo Entertainment System and Mega Drive/Genesis. The game featured various metal and rock songs in its soundtrack from the likes of Black Sabbath and Deep Purple among others. It was eventually ported to Game Boy Advance in the early 2000s. The game has four racers going up against each other, with two being player-controlled. Each race takes you on four laps around tracks that feature hills and dips. During the race, you will also attack competitor’s vehicles, but after being destroyed, they will reappear again. Between races, you can upgrade your vehicle with money earned.
Blackthorne is a platformer originally released for Super NES and DOS in the mid-90s before eventually releasing on Sega 32X with additional content. Like The Lost Vikings, it too has been available through Battle.net for PC since 2013. In the game, you play as Kyle “Blackthorne” Vlaros, who is out for revenge again the game’s bad guys. The platformer features running and climbing, and gunfights. Weapons can be upgraded, and you will also become stronger and have better weapons as you progress in the game.
