All bell locations in Black Myth: Wukong chapter 1

Birds fly away from a ringing bell in Black Myth: Wukong

There are three hidden bells to find in Black Myth: Wukong’s first chapter, the “Black Wind Mountain.” Finding and ringing all three of these bells will whisk you away to the game’s first secret area, the Ancient Guanyin Temple, where you’ll battle a hidden boss and earn your first Vessel: the Fireproof Mantle.

In this Black Myth: Wukong guide, we’ll walk you through where to find all three bells and how to earn the Fireproof Mantle once you reach the secret area.

Bell location #1 in Black Myth: Wukong

The Destined One stands in front of a bell in Black Myth Wukong

The first bell — which starts you out on this whole quest — is in the same arena as the Guangzhi boss fight. You can find Guangzhi in the Forest of Wolves, at the end of the left path and over the bridge after the “Outside the Forest” Shrine.

After you defeat Guangzhi and claim his weapon (unlocking the Transformation spell feature), head to the back of his arena and you’ll find the bell sitting under an arch. Ring it.

Bell location #2 in Black Myth: Wukong

The Destiny One stands in front of a bell in a forest in Black Myth: Wukong

Continuing along the main path in chapter 1. Past the “Snake Trail” Shrine in Bamboo Grove, you’ll run into another boss, Guangmou. Defeat him and you’ll have two paths: a wide staircase ahead of you and a narrow staircase to the right of the entrance. Take the wide staircase and you’ll very quickly run into the second bell and a dead end. Ring it and head back to the narrow staircase to continue the chapter.

Bell location #3 in Black Myth: Wukong

The Destined One stands in front of a bell in Black Myth: Wukong

Shortly after Guangmou, still in Bamboo Grove, you’ll find the “Marsh of White Mist” Shrine. Save the monkey just past the Shrine and then take down the Whiteclad Noble boss. Once he’s gone, ignore the path into the building and instead take the left path through the water.

After a short walk, you’ll enter a small clearing. Kill the wolves that ambush you and walk forward to the final bell, which is just past the hanging white wolf. Ring it and the game will instantly teleport you to the game’s first secret area.

How to beat Elder Jinchi in Black Myth: Wukong

Elder Jinchi stares at The Destined One in Black Myth: Wukong

After ringing the third bell, you’ll arrive in Secret: Ancient Guanyin Temple, a dark version of the temple where you fought Lingxuzi, the giant white wolf. Activate the “Grand Chamber” Shrine.

Before proceeding through the door ahead, open the three chests near the dead tree to get the Guanyin’s Prayer Beads arms and some crafting resources. When you’re ready for a boss fight, head through the doors and into the main arena.

Inside, you’ll meet Elder Jinchi and engage him in a boss fight. His moveset and style is similar to the Wandering Wight mini-boss, although Elder Jinchi is less aggressive. Where he differentiates himself is with the legion of zombies he will occasionally summon — including to heal himself. Just focus on beating down the boss and occasionally taking out the zombies when they overwhelm you or are attempting to heal Jinchi.

Once you’ve defeated the boss, you’ll be kicked out of the Ancient Guanyin Temple (you can travel back in if you forgot anything) and situated in front of the final bell. Interact with the hanging white wolf in front of you to get the Fireproof Mantle, your first Vessel — a unique kind of artifact that has both an active and passive benefit.

The Fireproof Mantle passively increases your burn resistance and grants immunity to some fire damage while equipped. You can also activate the Fireproof Mantle after generating enough Qi, which gives you complete burn immunity for a time and gradually increases your Focus. This item will be very helpful for the final boss of the first chapter, so be sure to equip it.
