Make sure to burn your resin before maintenance starts, if you wanted to.

What time does Genshin Impact version 5.0 start?

Genshin Impact should come back from maintenance with the 5.0 version at the following times:

  • Tuesday, Aug. 27 at 8 p.m. PDT for the west coast of North America
  • Tuesday, Aug. 27 at 11 p.m. EDT for the east coast of North America
  • Wednesday, Aug. 28 at 4 a.m. BST for the U.K.

The servers may come up early or late, depending on how maintenance goes, but these are the approximate times 5.0 should go live. Usually Hoyoverse is pretty good by abiding by maintenance times. We don’t usually get extended maintenance, but it does end early most of the time, wrapping up as much as an hour earlier than the predicted end time.

What’s new in Genshin Impact version 5.0?

This update is a big one. In fact, it’s so big that we recommend we strongly recommend preloading the game by updating it now, if you’re looking to dive into Natlan the second the game goes up. You can do so via the Hoyoverse launcher on PC and the App Store on iOS. For Android devices, you can just open the game and follow the on-screen directions and for PlayStation 4 and 5 you can press the Options button and hit “check for update.”

5.0 is going to have lots of content, including the brand new region of Natlan and new Archon Quests that come with it. Three new characters from the Natlan line-up will also get their time in the gacha banner: Kachina (Geo), Kinich (Dendro), and Mualani (Hydro).

Players will also be able to claim a free five-star character from the standard banner for the first time ever. So if you’re missing any of the standard characters (Dehya, Keqing, Mona, Qiqi, Jean, Tighnari, or DilucZ) or you’re just looking to build constellations, you should log in before Oct. 8 to claim this special reward.
