Things in the Mythic Quest office aren’t exactly getting more normal. Far from it, in fact — just ask Jo (Jessie Ennis), who’s ready to “crank up the intensity” (much to the chagrin of her coworkers).
Four seasons in, the Apple TV Plus show has covered a lot of ground in the video game industry. But season 4 will bring everyone back together underneath the same office lights in a situation that’s sure to leave people bouncing off each other and egos clashing. Most notably Ian’s (Rob McElhenney), who, in the season 4 trailer, is severely jealous of how much attention Dana (Imani Hakim) is getting, while also consulting an AI… based on himself. With new challenges arising every day, how will Mythic Quest’s workers fare? (And how will HR keep up?)
But that’s not all the new season is bringing. Poppy (Charlotte Nicdao) has a boyfriend, while David (David Hornsby) and Rachel (Ashly Burch) are getting called in front of Congress to testify on the state of video games. Presumably there are also big developments on the games everyone is working on, but in the trailer all we really see is that kids are using PlayPen to make sex games, so mostly we can just trust that the status quo hasn’t shifted completely here.
Also of note to Mythic Quest fans: The show’s spinoff, Side Quest, will be making its debut right as this season wraps up.
That show will be exploring the lives of employees, players, and fans on the outskirts of Mythic Quest’s narrative. Though it will only be four episodes long, the series boasts quite a few guest stars, including McElhenney, Anna Konkle, Derek Waters, William Stanford Davis, Bria Henderson, Rome Flynn, Leonard Robinson, Gary Kraus, Annamarie Kasper, Esai Morales, and Shalita Grant.
Mythic Quest season 4 will premiere on Jan. 29 with two episodes. New episodes will be released weekly on Wednesdays. All four episodes of Side Quest, the anthology spinoff, drop on March 26.
