Squid Game season 2’s official trailer is here to spotlight the big mystery of these new episodes: why the hell would anyone voluntarily choose to participate in this experience all over again?
The trailer promises a return of the iconography of the iconography of its predecessor, like the transparent plastic pig full of cash, the lethal statue of a little girl, and a handful of familiar cast members. But what has me hyped is the tease of the series’ fizzy dialogue. “Those he created this game, we should fight them” is to 2024 what “They got mansions, think we should rob them” is to 2002. I say that as the greatest compliment.
Season 2, premiering on Netflix on Dec. 26, arrives with the highest of expectations. The first season rapidly became Netflix’s most-watched series around the world. The only stat more impressive than 1.65 billion viewing hours in its first 28 days? The amount of money content creators and rival streamers have spent to siphon some of the Squid Game hype. If you just can’t wait for Squid Game season 2, Amazon Prime has Squid Game at home.
