Final Fantasy 14: Dawntrail’s alliance raids are a tie-in with the other MMORPG, Final Fantasy 11. The first of three Echoes of Vana’diel alliance raids, Jeuno: The First Walk, launched alongside patch 7.1, giving players a new weekly to complete for loot.
Our FFXIV Jeuno alliance raid guide explains where to unlock the Echoes of Vana’diel alliance raids, what the prerequisites are, and the rewards you can get from the raid.
Where to unlock Echoes of Vana’diel and Jeuno: The First Walk
Before you unlock the alliance raid, you’ll need to have at least completed the main scenario quest “Dawntrail” (the last bit of the 7.0 MSQ), have a combat job at level 100, and have an item level of at least 695. This is pretty standard, and you should be here already just from completing the Dawntrail expansion.
To kick off the Echoes of Vana’diel quest line, you’ll need to talk to the NPC “Hoobigo Messenger” in Tuliyollal to start the quest “An Otherworldly Encounter.”
After following a few NPCs and watching a cutscene or two, you’ll unlock “Jeuno: The First Walk” during the same quest as above.
Note that there are a few quests as part of the storyline to complete after the raid — which you should do, as they will likely be prerequisites for the second raid that will launch later.
Echoes of Vana’diel alliance raid loot and rewards
Note that until patch 7.2 (or around there, based on previous expansions), Jeuno: The First Walk will have drop restrictions, only allowing you to pick up one piece of gear per week, coinciding with weekly reset. If you roll need or green on any gear from a chest and you win it, you will not be able to get another piece of gear until after reset, so roll carefully!
The armor sets, called the Ark Angel armor, look like this (and we labeled each set so you can tell what you’re looking at):
You can also get tattered sheet music from chests, which you can trade to a specific goblin NPC in Lower Jeuno for Echoes of Vana’diel orchestrion rolls, a Nano Lord minion, and a Nano Lord Triple Triad card, if you’re lucky with your rolls. These drops don’t have any restrictions.
Once per week, you’ll also get an Ordelle Coin from completing Aglaia. You can trade these in for Surgelight Twine and Surgelight Glaze to augment your Quetzalli tomestone gear. Trade in the coins to Uah’shepya in Solution Nine:
You can trade in the twine and glaze to Hhihwi, another NPC vendor who is next to the vendor above.
The Echoes of Vana’diel alliance raid series will have two more raids — one that launches with patch 7.3 and another that launches in patch 7.5, so long as the game continues to follow previous expansion schedules.
