Original Story (Wed 7th Oct, 2020 10:30 BST): At the end of last month, The Pokémon Company revealed that a new, special physical release was on the way for Pokémon Sword and Shield, with both games being bundled with their respective DLC packs. No pricing was confirmed at the time, but early pre-orders give us an indication of how much it’ll likely cost.

Amazon now has live listings for the new bundles; in the US, it’s currently available to pre-order for $89.99, while those in the UK can grab a copy for £69.99. You can see those listings for yourself below.

The standalone games have a recommended retail price of $59.99 / £49.99, so you’re essentially paying $30 / £20 for the DLC to be included here. The RRP for the Expansion Pass separately is $29.99 / £26.99, so it all adds up to a similar amount.

Of course, you may be able to find physical copies of the base games at slightly reduced prices, so buying the original game with an Expansion Pass download may still be the cheapest way to go.

Are you tempted to pick up the new DLC bundles? Do you already own the Pokémon Sword and Shield Expansion Pass digitally? Let us know in the comments.
