Raven may be planning to reduce lens flare in Call of Duty: Warzone’s Verdansk 84 map

Verdansk 84

A Call of Duty: Warzone developer at Raven Software has hinted that the studio will work on reducing the sun lens flare in Verdansk 84.

After receiving complaints from players about the inclusion and intensity of lens flare in Verdansk ’84, a developer at Raven has suggested the studio will look into solutions to fix the brightness in the map.

Players have been complaining about brightness since Verdansk 84 came to Warzone at the start of Season 3, with some lamenting the fact the brightness change is too drastic when you run indoors/outdoors and others noting that it gives snipers more cover as their glints are obscured in bright light.

As picked up by Eurogamer, one Raven staffer has acknowledged this issue and has suggested a fix may be on the way.

In response to an article shared by Dexerto, Raven Software’s lead VFX artist Reed Shingledecker tweeted: “I can easily tone it down if needed.”

The developer went on to say: “Looks like I know what I’m doing on Monday. I’m happy to look and address any VFX concerns. Thanks for the feedback.”

In terms of what changes can actually be implemented in the short term, Shingledecker explained that “haziness, god rays, or actual sun brightness” cannot be altered, and only lens flare itself can be adjusted.

Verdansk 84 hasn’t had the smoothest introduction since its arrival in April: the redesigned arena was subject to some nasty under-map exploits, and the developer has had to intentionally step up its efforts in order to address the rise of cheaters in the game.

Here’s hoping little fixes like this lens flare correction can be incorporated over time to fix the myriad issues bugging players about one of the world’s biggest battle royales.
