PUBG: New State is the futuristic sequel to PUBG Mobile, and it’s coming this year

PUBG: New State is the next PUBG Mobile.

PUBG Studio, developer of the core PC and consoles PUBG game, has announced PUBG: New State, the sequel to PUBG Mobile. Unlike that game (developed by Tencent), however, New State is being made entirely in-house.

PUBG: New State is coming to Android and iOS this year, with pre-registration already open on Google Play. As with the original PUBG Mobile, New State will be free-to-play, and it promises to set a new standard for game visuals on mobile.

PUBG: New State takes place in the near future, year 2051. It features a new 8×8 map called Troi, and entirely new locations to explore. Keeping with the futuristic theme, New State implements a number of new mechanics and introduces a couple of gadgets entirely new to PUBG.

The trailer showed off things like deployable cover, drone-delivered loot, Tron-style bikes and other futuristic-looking vehicles. PUBG Studio says the new weapon kits will “transform weapons” when picked up, changing up a weapon’s performance, firing mode and tweaking their looks, another interesting twist to PUBG’s formula.

New State is one of two PUBG projects reportedly in development at PUBG Studio, the other being a sequel to PUBG on PC and consoles.
