PS5: How to Enable and Use Cloud Saves

Last Edited:

This page contains information on the PlayStation5’s Cloud Saving feature, and how to enable your games to upload save data to the cloud storage.

Please Note: The ability to use Cloud Storage is only available to those who have subscribed to PlayStation Plus. If you do not have a subscription, or lose it, you will no longer be able to access Cloud Storage both for uploading and downloading to your console storage.

How to Set Up Automatic Cloud Storage

By default, all of your PlayStation 5 games will automatically upload your save files to Cloud Storage as you play. You can check on the save files and the date and time they were last uploaded by going to Settings > Saved Data and Game/App Settings > Save Data (PS5) > Cloud Storage, and checking the Download to Console Storage option to view your current save files in the cloud.

However, PS4 games may not automatically upload save data to the cloud. You can check on this by going in the same Save Data and Game/App Settings section and inspecting the Save Data (PS4) instead, where you will find the option to Auto-Upload your PS4 game save data to the cloud.

In this section you can enable the ability to upload save data from your PS4 games automatically, or pick and choose them manually.
