Play Cyberpunk 2077 In Third Person With This Mod

When CD Projekt RED first announced Cyberpunk 2077 would be largely in first-person (with the exception of driving and photo mode), many fans were upset to see their created characters would be hidden during their adventures. For those hoping for a togglable third-person mode, that’s not really a thing, but there is a Cyberpunk 2077 mod that allows you to leave that first-person point of view behind.

This week’s Mod Corner features a mod that I have been asked about immensely since the last Cyberpunk 2077 mod recommendation went live. Before we dive into that, however, it is important to remember that this is for PC players only and that the base game is still having bug and glitch issues on a large scale (though several massive patches have improved upon the experience immensely since the rough launch). Knowing that, I recommend backing up all save files before attempted any mod – no matter how big or how small. The bugs happen at random and mods tamper with the intended mechanics of any game, meaning corrupted save files are always a danger.

Now to the mod!

In order to use this Cyberpunk 2077 third-person mod, you’re going to need to install a program called Cyber Engine Tweaks, which you can find here on Nexus Mods. This is needed for several mods on the site currently and will give players the ability to tweak with the console menu in addition to some glitch control.

Once that is downloaded, you can then download the third-person mod from Jelle Bakker called JB – TPP WIP Third Person. As the name suggests, this mod is currently still in its early stages, which means feedback helps when making it even better. Once installed, it’s pretty easy to get it going:

Step 1: Start Cyberpunk 2077
Step 2: wait for game to load save
Step 4: press B <---

There are currently four different camera views with this mod, so have fun with it and see what works best for you. After testing it out myself, it’s a pretty decent way to get that desired third-person mode, but after using it? I appreciate the first-person decision even more. The team did a great job with how face-to-face some of the arcs felt and that gets taken away a little bit when morphing into a third-person experience. Still, to each their own and you may feel differently! If so, you can download the free mod right here to get started oggling your created V.

Also: hat tip to my V with his main squeeze Panam in the image at the top of the article, because she is gosh darn perfect.
