In the Swedish financial publication Placera, Paradox CEO Ebba Ljungerud shared about the release expectation for the game: “I do not think it will come in the first half of the year, but we will see.”

Vampire : The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 was originally set to launch in the first quarter of 2020, but was delayed twice. The development team has gone through a few changes, then decided to delay the game “to ensure the best player experience possible”.

The delay according to the article was due to a number of allegations, staff exiting and also due to the pandemic. The developer had also decided to develop the game for Playstation 5 and Xbox Series X which also contributed to development time.

To be able to develop for the next generation, you have to have development kits from the manufacturers. And I’m pretty sure that both Sony and Microsoft were affected by the pandemic because they did not have many development kits.

But Bloodlines 2 isn’t the only title set in the World of Darkness tabletop universe, there is the Vampire: The Masquerade – Swansong being developed by Big Bad Wolf which will also release next year. Then there is the Werewolf: The Apocalypse – Earthblood being developed by Cyanide Studios, which will be releasing February 2021. Earthblood also shares the same universe but follows the Crinos, beings that can shift into werewolf, wolf and human form. So to say the least, there is a lot to look forward next year for those who are fans of the tabletop world.

For now we will have to see if there are further updates about the release window. If you’re curious to learn about the sequel, be sure to check out our Vampire The Masquerade Bloodlines 2 Preview: Spectral Street Cred In Seattle.
