Fall used to be clearer \u2014 a shift in the wind, a turn of the leaves, inescapable pumpkin spice bullshit<\/a>. Now those ecological markers are often askew, and the crisp autumn air might not make its way until school is already well in session. But one sure way to invoke fall, with all its rustic and rust-colored pleasures, is to watch Over the Garden Wall<\/em><\/a>. <\/p>\n

There was once a time when you could stream Over the Garden Wall<\/em> on Max and Hulu. Last year that changed: Starting Sept. 1, it was scuttled from Max and only available on Hulu. And this year, the winds of change briefly got even more dire, with Over the Garden Wall<\/em> creator Patrick McHale sharing (in a now-deleted tweet) <\/a>that Hulu was removing the show now as well \u2014\u00a0a huge blow considering it was the last place to legally stream it with just a subscription.<\/p>\n

Thankfully, the rock facts came just as swiftly as the cause for alarm: McHale updated on Friday saying that after all that Over the Garden Wall<\/em> was not<\/em> leaving Hulu. <\/p>\n

Who knows why the gods of streaming saw fit to shuffle this one off another<\/em> platform just at the time we need it most, even temporarily, but it\u2019s as good a reason as any to remind us to find a way to ring fall one way or another, with all its ephemerality, weather \u2014 or streaming services \u2014 be damned. <\/p>\n

You need only spend a few minutes with Wirt (Elijah Wood) and Greg (Collin Dean) to understand why these two brothers are the perfect companions to ring in the season. Lost in some woods \u2014 dubbed \u201cthe Unknown\u201d \u2014 they happen upon one conundrum after the next, each one more alternately spooky or spoopy<\/a> than the last, as they struggle to make their way home. <\/p>\n
