The starring turn for Kathryn Hahn\u2019s diabolical Agatha Harkness, last seen in 2021\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.polygon.com\/2021\/2\/19\/22291450\/wandavision-grief-mourning\"><em>WandaVision<\/em><\/a>, features a plucky young witchy wannabe initially only as \u201cTeen,\u201d and played by <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.polygon.com\/23814827\/heartstopper-season-2-nick-charlie-romance-trauma\">Heartstopper<\/a><\/em>\u2019s Joe Locke.<\/p>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-none\">The character\u2019s real name has not yet been stated: As of tonight\u2019s premiere episodes, there\u2019s a clear magic effect keeping him from revealing it. He\u2019s listed in the credits as \u201cTeen\u201d and referred to in the show as \u201cTeen.\u201d And the cast and crew has kept his identity under lock.<\/p>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-none\">But if you know anything about Marvel Comics\u2019 Scarlet Witch, Marvel magic, or the setting\u2019s teen superheroes, you\u2019ve got a solid hunch. If Locke isn\u2019t playing Billy Kaplan, AKA Wiccan, it would be extraordinarily strange.\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Who is Billy Kaplan?<\/h2>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/arcader.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/agatha-all-alongs-unnamed-teen-is-probably-this-familiar-marvel-comics-character-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"\" data-has-syndication-rights=\"1\" data-caption=\"Wiccan\/Billy (left) with his brother Speed\/Tommy.\" data-portal-copyright=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-none\">Billy is the teenage Marvel Comics superhero known as Wiccan, or the Demiurge. He\u2019s a frequent member of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.polygon.com\/23954016\/marvels-young-avengers-kamala-khan-final-scene\">the Young Avengers<\/a>, on the occasions that that team is together and adventuring. He\u2019s got innate magical powers that allow him to warp reality simply by stating what he wishes to occur and focusing on that intention. And he has a magical destiny to grow into: It\u2019s been prophesied that someday he will grow so powerful that he will be able to rewrite the laws of magic itself.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-none\">That might not <em>seem<\/em> Teen\u2019s real identity is a shoo-in. Right now, all we know is that he\u2019s a teenage boy who has a boyfriend, and wants to be a witch, and that even though he\u2019s kind of dopey, he\u2019s powerful enough to crack the Scarlet Witch\u2019s imprisoning illusion around Agatha. Oh, and whenever he tries to say his name or explain who he is, Agatha just hears nonsense or muted noise. Nothing that\u2019s happened in <em>Agatha<\/em> so far contradicts the possibility that Teen is an original character, new to any Marvel timeline.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-none\">But there\u2019s a <em>ton<\/em> of circumstantial evidence suggesting that he\u2019s Wiccan. For one: Locke is a dead ringer for the character design. Skinny teen boy, floppy dark hair. In the comics, Billy is \u2014 it\u2019s more complicated than this, but don\u2019t worry about it \u2014 one of the Scarlet Witch\u2019s long-lost twin sons. Her kids, Billy and Tommy (or illusions of them, at least), have already <a href=\"https:\/\/www.polygon.com\/tv\/2021\/1\/15\/22232726\/wandavision-scarlet-witch-kids-powers-wanda-in-comics\">featured in <em>WandaVision<\/em><\/a> and in the alternate universes visited in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.polygon.com\/reviews\/23054675\/doctor-strange-2-review-multiverse-madness-spoiler-free-mcu\"><em>Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness<\/em><\/a>. Teen could be the Marvel Cinematic Universe\u2019s way of integrating Billy into the main timeline in a lasting way.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-none\">We also know that Teen has a boyfriend: Wiccan is one of Marvel\u2019s most prominent queer characters. He and his boyfriend Teddy (the superhero known as Hulkling; no relation to the Hulk) have been together in comics for almost two decades.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-none\">To sum up: Billy and Teen are both witchy magic users of certain power, they share a certain look, they\u2019re both linked to the Scarlet Witch, and they\u2019re both queer. <em>Agatha All Along<\/em> hasn\u2019t revealed anything that would keep Teen from being an original character, but it also hasn\u2019t revealed anything that would keep him from being the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.polygon.com\/23519049\/best-marvel-movies-mcu-ranked-worst\">Marvel Cinematic Universe<\/a> version of Billy, either.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-none\">We\u2019ll be watching <em>Agatha All Along<\/em> closely over the rest of its episodes, to see if it\u2019s really pulling a \u201cWiccan All Along,\u201d and we\u2019ll keep you updated.
