If you already know you\u2019re picking up a PlayStation 5 Pro<\/a>, then you also<\/em> probably know already that you\u2019ll be needing a disc drive to play Blu-ray games and movies. Thankfully, the existing PS5 disc drive attachment is compatible with the more powerful model, so you can go ahead and pick that up ahead of the Sept. 26 pre-order and Nov. 7 launch.<\/p>\n

This may seem a bit early to consider peripherals, but as Wario64 on X (formerly Twitter) has noted<\/a>, the disc drive has jumped to eighth place on Amazon\u2019s list of bestselling video game products since Sony\u2019s technical presentation<\/a>, and as of this writing, Best Buy<\/a> has sold out for shipping (though in-store pickup might be available depending on your location). There\u2019s still plenty of time for all retailers to get more supply, of course, but given this initial and immediate demand, it might be best to invest early just in case you want to make sure your physical copies of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth<\/em> and Horizon Forbidden West<\/em> will be playable on day one.<\/p>\n

As far as other accessories are concerned, there has yet to be official confirmation as to whether the existing PS5 vertical stand will work with the PS5 Pro, but it does<\/em> look awfully similar. We\u2019ve reached out to Sony to confirm. In the meantime, if you want to play it safe \u2014 or if you have an existing PS5 and have been looking for the nudge to prop it upright \u2014 you can also pick up the official vertical stand<\/a> for $29.99 or one of the many third-party options<\/a> for a little less.<\/p>\n

\u2026 And of course, we\u2019d be remiss not to tell you that the adorable Astro Bot controller<\/a>, like all PS5 controllers, is compatible with the Pro console. Unfortunately as of this writing, it still seems to be sold out everywhere, but we\u2019re keeping an eye on it and will let you know if that changes.<\/p>\n
