And hey, even if you don&apos;t buy my ideas of thematic similarities, it&apos;s just a great song.<\/p>\n<div class=\"youtube-video\" data-nosnippet >\n<div class=\"video-aspect-box\"><iframe data-lazy-priority=\"low\" data-lazy-src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/iYYRH4apXDo\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Next week, though, it&apos;ll be gone\u2014from some versions of Alan Wake, anyway. &#8220;Alan Wake (2010) will receive an update on September 10th at 11am UTC,&#8221; Remedy <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/alanwake\/status\/1831739167392272866\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">tweeted<\/a>. &#8220;The update will be to all PC versions (Steam, Epic Games Store, GOG). This update removes the song Space Oddity from the game due to changes in licensing, and replaces it with a new original song by Petri Alanko, Strange Moons. Sometimes music just gets removed from games but in other cases, as with <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.pcgamer.com\/spec-ops-the-lines-sudden-removal-from-steam-baffles-its-director-why-has-this-happened\/\">Spec Ops: The Line<\/a> earlier this year, expiring licenses cause games to be removed from sale completely. Alan Wake itself was <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.pcgamer.com\/alan-wake-is-disappearing-from-steam-after-this-weekend\/\">pulled from storefronts<\/a> in 2017 because of expiring music music licenses, although it was <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.pcgamer.com\/alan-wake-is-back-on-steam-and-its-on-sale-too\/\">brought back in 2018<\/a> after Microsoft negotiated a new deal with the rightsholders.<\/p>\n<p>This time around, though, Remedy is out in front of the situation. Bowie&apos;s track will be quietly swapped out with an original work by Alanko, and that should make fans happy: He&apos;s composed music for <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.mobygames.com\/person\/425998\/petri-alanko\/credits\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">every Remedy game<\/a> since the original Alan Wake, so he should have a pretty good <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/Peppepappa\/status\/1831740963368108257\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">grasp<\/a> on the vibe we&apos;re all looking for.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"van-image-figure inline-layout\" data-bordeaux-image-check >\n<div class='image-full-width-wrapper'>\n<div class='image-widthsetter' style=\"max-width:1920px;\">\n<p class=\"vanilla-image-block\" style=\"padding-top:121.88%;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" id=\"ebP3onDYgtpsi54Lahwzpa\" name=\"petri.jpg\" alt=\"Written from a point of view of an astronaut who does have quite a few problems. But even _that_ is okay, as it is what it is.
