Launched on PlayStation 5 and Windows PC on Aug. 23 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.polygon.com\/gaming\/447033\/concord-ps5-pc-pulled-refunds-sony-firewalk\">only to be removed from storefronts<\/a> on Sept. 3, with servers set to be <a href=\"https:\/\/www.polygon.com\/playstation\/448419\/concord-gameplay-final-hours-close-servers-offline-time-date\">fully shut down<\/a> on Sept. 6, <em>Concord<\/em> will have one last splash in mainstream culture when its characters take the small screen in Amazon Prime Video\u2019s upcoming animated anthology series <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.polygon.com\/gamescom\/442159\/secret-level-tim-miller-blur-studios-announcement-gamescom-2024\">Secret Level<\/a><\/em>. Polygon has confirmed with sources close to production that, despite Sony\u2019s decision to completely remove the game from existence, an episode inspired by <em>Concord<\/em>\u2019s lore and design will roll out when <em>Secret Level<\/em> premieres in December.<\/p>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-none\">The sci-fi setting of <em>Concord<\/em> was one of the theoretical main draws of the game, with Sony and Firewalk Studios investing heavily in weekly cinematic lore drops that would introduce prospective players to the the Freegunner crew of the Northstar, a space pirate ship that would travel between planets in the game\u2019s galaxy. The animated content produced for <em>Concord<\/em> was\u2026 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=qtjotiq5R78\">pretty snazzy<\/a>? But the attempt to hype up the unknown characters with as much emphasis as the play didn\u2019t click with audiences, and the game debuted to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.polygon.com\/gaming\/447033\/concord-ps5-pc-pulled-refunds-sony-firewalk\">dismal player counts<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-none\">The cold response led Sony to ultimately pull <em>Concord<\/em> offline, and promise refunds to players who bought in early. The company also said it would \u201cexplore options\u201d for what the pay-to-play game \u201cincluding those that will better reach our players.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<div>\n<div><iframe title=\"Secret Level - Teaser Trailer | Prime Video\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/gLihxsmI_OU?rel=0\" allowfullscreen allow=\"accelerometer; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share;\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-none\">Anyone mourning the loss of <em>Concord<\/em> \u2014 and t<a href=\"https:\/\/www.polygon.com\/playstation\/448419\/concord-gameplay-final-hours-close-servers-offline-time-date\">here are a few players still leveling up<\/a> in the final hours of its existence \u2014 should get even more excited for <em>Secret Level<\/em>. Created by Blur Studio\u2019s Tim Miller, who has experience with genre-bending, animation-stretching anthology series after producing Netflix\u2019s <em>Love, Death + Robots<\/em>, <em>Secret Level<\/em> brings cinematic-quality production to one-off adventures in various games. <em>Concord<\/em> is on the docket, along with episodes inspired by Armored Core, <em>Crossfire<\/em>, Dungeons &amp; Dragons, <em>Exodus<\/em>, <em>Honor of Kings<\/em>, Mega Man, <em>New World: Aeternum<\/em>, PAC-MAN, <em>Sifu<\/em>, <em>Spelunky<\/em>, <em>The Outer Worlds<\/em>, <em>Unreal Tournament<\/em>, <em>Warhammer 40,000<\/em>, and an episode devoted to PlayStation characters, which damn well better include <a href=\"https:\/\/www.polygon.com\/review\/447564\/astro-bot-review\">Astro Bot<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-none\"><em>Concord<\/em> did not work for the masses as a game.
