Pok\u00e9mon Go<\/em><\/a> is having a Beldum<\/strong> Community Day event on Sunday, Aug. 18, from 2-5 p.m.<\/strong>in your local time.<\/p>\n

As expected with a Community Day event, Beldum <\/strong>will spawn in huge numbers with a high chance for it to appear shiny. There are also several other bonuses and perks, which we\u2019ve list out below.<\/p>\n

How do I catch a shiny Beldum?<\/strong><\/h2>\n

As per old research by the now-defunct website The Silph Road (via Wayback Machine<\/a>), Shiny rates on Community Days are about 1 in 24, which means that if you keep playing throughout the three-hour window, you should find quite a few shiny Pok\u00e9mon.<\/p>\n

If you\u2019re short on time or Pok\u00e9 Balls, you can pop an Incense, then quickly tap each Beldum to check for shiny ones, running from any that aren\u2019t shiny. Notably, any Beldum you\u2019ve already tapped will face where your player is standing, so that should help identify which ones you may have already checked.<\/p>\n

What Community Day move does Beldum<\/strong>\u2019s evolution learn?<\/h2>\n

If you evolve Metang <\/strong>into Metagross <\/strong>from 2 p.m. until 7 p.m. in your local time, it will learn the charged move Meteor Mash<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

If you miss out on evolving it during this period, you will likely be able to evolve it during a Community Day weekend event in December to get Meteor Mash<\/strong>. If you don\u2019t want to wait, you can use an Elite TM<\/a> to get the move.<\/p>\n

\n

How does Metagross do in the meta<\/h2>\n

Metagross is one of the best steel-type Pok\u00e9mon in the game, only really getting outclassed by Dusk Mane Necrozm<\/a>a (an event-only Legendary Pok\u00e9mon\/Ultra Beast, so take that as you will). Even better is a shadow Metagross, so if you have an opportunity to nab a shadow Beldum from a Team Go Rocket member and you have the resources to level it up, you definitely should.<\/p>\n

Metagross\u2019 best moveset is Bullet Punch<\/strong> and Meteor Mash<\/strong> and with this, it\u2019ll make pretty quick work out of most opponents \u2014 especially fairy-, ice-, and rock-type Pok\u00e9mon.<\/p>\n

Mega Metagross<\/strong> has not been added to Pok\u00e9mon Go<\/em> yet, but you should use this as an opportunity to nab a good Beldum with the intention of eventually using it to get a Mega Metagross. While we can\u2019t confirm any details yet since it\u2019s not in the game, it will very likely be extremely<\/em> powerful and worth having.<\/p>\n
