Here&apos;s who you&apos;ll be meeting on your travels through the Living Lands:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.mobygames.com\/person\/222890\/brandon-keener\/credits\/\"><strong>Brandon Keener<\/strong><\/a>, who we&#8217;ve already talked about, will give life to <strong>Kai<\/strong>, a coastal aumaua soldier<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.mobygames.com\/person\/551686\/mara-junot\/credits\/\"><strong>Mara Junot<\/strong><\/a>, best known as the voice of Ikora Rey in Destiny 2, will portray <strong>Giatta<\/strong>, one of the ocean folk from the Vailian settlement of Fior mes Iv\u00e8rno<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.mobygames.com\/person\/771857\/anjali-bhimani\/credits\/\"><strong>Anjali Bhimani<\/strong><\/a>, who portrayed Medusa in Stray Gods and Commander Natara in Starfield, is <strong>Yatzli<\/strong>, a hearth orlan wizard<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.mobygames.com\/person\/436629\/scott-whyte\/credits\/\"><strong>Scott Whyte<\/strong><\/a>, whose many roles include Rathma in Diablo 4, will give voice to the boreal dwarf <strong>Marius<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Kai narrated the <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/ULsF7B6bFuU?si=XJxwVo42AQWsMn0r\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Avowed gameplay trailer<\/a> that dropped in 2023 and when word of Keener&apos;s appearance in the game first came to light, I gave it a close listen to see if I could pick out his voice. I had an unexpectedly immediate and visceral reaction when I heard him in a guest role on some US police procedural many years ago (&#8220;That&apos;s Garrus!&#8221; I shouted, literally reenacting the <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/knowyourmeme.com\/memes\/pointing-rick-dalton\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Pointing Rick Dalton<\/a> meme, while my partner gave me <em>The Look<\/em>) and I figured I&apos;d be able to pick him out quite easily in the Avowed video.<\/p>\n<p>I did not\u2014because, as it turns out, that wasn&apos;t Keener: Obsidian said the voice was &#8220;scratch VO,&#8221; and confirmed that &#8220;Brandon is For Reals Kai.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Keener&apos;s voice as Kai can be heard in the much newer Avowed deep dive that aired after the recent Xbox Games Showcase, and yeah, there&apos;s no missing it:<\/p>\n<div class=\"youtube-video\" data-nosnippet >\n<div class=\"video-aspect-box\"><iframe data-lazy-priority=\"low\" data-lazy-src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/bfEdLugnpuo?start=529\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>(Some of you may now be wondering, &#8220;How do I get Kai to climb <em>me?<\/em>&#8221; but I&apos;m afraid that&apos;s <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.pcgamer.com\/avoweds-companions-wont-ditch-you-for-making-the-wrong-choices-its-not-about-maintaining-their-approval-its-about-getting-to-know-them\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">not going to be on the table<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>For the record, I haven&apos;t played Avowed yet, or even watched all the pre-release stuff, but I&apos;m going to say that yes, this is the correct casting.
