One of the biggest events in the tech calendar, this year&apos;s show takes place between June 4-7 at the <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.computextaipei.com.tw\/en\/index.html#\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Taipei Nangang Exhibition<\/a><a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.computextaipei.com.tw\/en\/index.html#\"> Center<\/a> in sunny Taiwan. AI computing in some form or fashion is big news for just about every major tech manufacturer at this point, and alongside some NPU-equipped chips and AI data center discussion, expect to see the term bolted to just about every new product launch you can think of, for better or worse.<\/p>\n<p>AI-equipped gaming chairs? The good Dr. is set to <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.computextaipei.com.tw\/en\/news\/0FB14C9D86CABE9E\/info.html?lt=data&#038;cr=2&#038;cid=news\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">&#8220;highlight the next generation of AMD products&#8221;<\/a>, although exactly which of them get the red carpet treatment remains to be seen.<\/p>\n<p>AMD&apos;s Strix Point mobile chips have been <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/videocardz.com\/newz\/amd-ryzen-8000-9000-apu-roadmap-leaks-out-strix-point-to-launch-mid-2024-fire-range-and-strix-halo-in-2025\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">rumoured to be releasing this year<\/a>, and Computex 2024 strikes as the perfect time for a grand unveiling, although of course, we&apos;ll have to wait and see what happens on the day. Still, with the AMD chief taking prime position at this year&apos;s show, it seems highly likely that we&apos;ll learn more about AMDs next-generation mobile offerings.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Given recent leaks regarding a potential <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.pcgamer.com\/hardware\/processors\/asus-may-have-accidentally-revealed-the-new-amd-strix-point-naming-scheme-before-quickly-pulling-a-nothing-to-see-here\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">&#8220;Ryzen AI&#8221;<\/a> naming scheme, we may be looking at a rebrand of these chips compared to generations past, too.<\/p>\n<p>And then there&apos;s Granite Ridge. AMD&apos;s Zen 5 desktop CPUs look tantalisingly close, as motherboard manufacturers began rolling out <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.pcgamer.com\/hardware\/processors\/the-launch-of-amds-zen-5-processors-is-close-as-motherboard-manufacturers-begin-rolling-out-bioses-supporting-the-next-gen-chips\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">BIOS updates for the new chips in April<\/a>, meaning that we can&apos;t be far away from a proper launch. Still, Intel head honcho Pat Gelsinger will be delivering a keynote of his own on the first day of the event, showcasing &#8220;next generation data center and client computing products&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>Here&apos;s hoping then, that we can pin down some cold hard numbers on those Lunar Lake mobile chips. And what of <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.pcgamer.com\/intels-arrow-lake-specs-break-cover-say-hello-to-ddr5-6400-wave-goodbye-to-ddr4-and-possibly-hyper-threading\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Arrow Lake<\/a>, Intel&apos;s upcoming next-gen desktop CPUs? The Intel CEO confirmed at the start of this year that we&apos;d see <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.pcgamer.com\/hardware\/processors\/intels-pat-gelsinger-will-deliver-a-keynote-at-computex-2024-introducing-next-generation-client-computing-products-so-maybe-well-finally-get-an-official-look-at-arrow-lake\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Intel&apos;s 20A products in 2024<\/a>, so fingers crossed for a big announcement.<\/p>\n<p>With AMD looking to potentially bring the big guns in the form of Zen 5, we&apos;d be very surprised if Intel wasn&apos;t planning some substantial reveals of its own. Acer, Asus, Dell, HP, Lenovo and Microsoft, to name more than a few, have all <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.pcgamer.com\/hardware\/processors\/all-the-big-laptop-makers-are-embracing-qualcomms-snapdragon-x-here-are-all-the-pc-reborn-models-available-for-pre-order-now\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">announced Qualcomm chip-equipped laptops<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>We&apos;ll be itching to take a look at these new slim and lightweight designs and find out what kind of performance and battery life we can expect from each model moving forward. Qualcomm has the potential here to really shake up the laptop market, with chips that, on paper at least, look like <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.pcgamer.com\/hardware\/processors\/the-tech-im-most-psyched-to-see-this-year-is-anything-but-traditional-pc-silicon-and-certainly-isnt-x86\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">they might be very competitive<\/a> as things stand.<\/p>\n<p>Competition breeds innovation, they always say, and a third major CPU manufacturer coming in swinging to the Windows laptop market is exciting news indeed.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"article-body__section\" id=\"section-gaming-handhelds-the-claw-vs-the-rog-ally-x-vs\"><span>Gaming handhelds: The Claw vs The ROG Ally X vs ???<\/span><\/h2>\n<figure class=\"van-image-figure inline-layout\" data-bordeaux-image-check >\n<div class='image-full-width-wrapper'>\n<div class='image-widthsetter' style=\"max-width:1920px;\">\n<p class=\"vanilla-image-block\" style=\"padding-top:56.25%;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" id=\"4RRWeXtLEow2N3ufkSvBQa\" name=\"MSI Claw 2.jpg\" alt=\"MSI Claw CES 2024\" src=\"https:\/\/arcader.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/computex-2024-preview-what-we-expect-to-see-at-this-years-show-from-ai-pcs-to-next-generation-chips-from-intel-amd-and-more-4.jpg\" mos=\"\" align=\"middle\" fullscreen=\"\" width=\"1920\" height=\"1080\" attribution=\"\" endorsement=\"\" class=\"\"><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><figcaption itemprop=\"caption description\" class=\" inline-layout\"><span class=\"credit\" itemprop=\"copyrightHolder\">(Image credit: MSI)<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>MSI will likely be keen to show off its gaming handheld, <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.pcgamer.com\/msi-has-launched-a-new-gaming-handheld-and-there-are-two-things-you-should-know-its-the-first-to-launch-with-an-intel-core-ultra-processor-and-for-some-reason-its-called-claw\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the Claw<\/a>, to show attendees, and the Intel Core Ultra powered device won&apos;t be the only handheld likely to be making an appearance. MSI and Asus have already shown off motherboards with the connections tucked away at the back, and our Nick has already had a go at <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.pcgamer.com\/hardware\/asus-btf-back-to-the-future-system-the-future-of-gaming-pcs\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">building a full Asus BTF (&apos;Back to the Future) gaming PC<\/a>, with encouraging results.<\/p>\n<p>It&apos;s likely we&apos;ll see more manufacturers debuting these sorts of designs, as rear connection hardware looks like it stands a good chance of becoming the next big thing in PC design.<\/p>\n<p>Computex has traditionally been known for custom case builds, too, so expect to see some case designs ranging from the <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.pcgamer.com\/youre-not-ready-for-this-cnc-machinist-pornography\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">sublime<\/a> to the <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.theregister.com\/2023\/06\/05\/computex_2023_from_sneaker_inspired\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ridiculous<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"article-body__section\" id=\"section-what-we-don-t-expect-to-see-next-gen-nvidia-gpus\"><span>What we don&#8217;t expect to see: Next-gen Nvidia GPUs<\/span><\/h2>\n<figure class=\"van-image-figure inline-layout\" data-bordeaux-image-check >\n<div class='image-full-width-wrapper'>\n<div class='image-widthsetter' style=\"max-width:1920px;\">\n<p class=\"vanilla-image-block\" style=\"padding-top:56.25%;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" id=\"zLKg7fQ27ysvNJ2hMg8b9R\" name=\"jensensmiley.jpg\" alt=\"UNITED STATES - SEPTEMBER 13: Jensen Huang, CEO of NVIDIA, arrives for the Inaugural AI Insight Forum in Russell Building on Capitol Hill, on Wednesday, September 13, 2023. While we expect the first consumer <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.pcgamer.com\/nvidia-blackwell-what-to-expect\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Blackwell GPUs to be launched this year<\/a>, odds are that it&apos;ll be towards the end. Previous launch cadences and <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.pcgamer.com\/hardware\/graphics-cards\/nvidia-rumoured-to-be-sticking-to-its-regular-programming-with-the-rtx-5080-and-rtx-5090-launching-in-q4-this-year\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">recent rumours of a Q4 debut<\/a> seems to be aligning in that direction.<\/p>\n<p>That doesn&apos;t mean we won&apos;t get some AI announcements or potentially another look at the company&apos;s rather promising-looking <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.pcgamer.com\/i-spoke-to-an-nvidia-ai-powered-npc-about-his-ramen-and-his-responses-were-frighteningly-good\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ACE AI NPC tech<\/a>. After all, given that the dreaded two letters of our imminent doom\u2014by which I mean our promising AI future\u2014is the theme of the show, expect Nvidia to perform a bit of a victory lap. Similarly, any controllers with something different to bring to the table are sure to catch my interest. I reckon its high time we had some new and interesting ways to interact with our beloved machines.<\/p>\n<p>We&apos;ve long held the belief that Gen 5 SSDs aren&apos;t quite ready for prime time yet (with the exception of the <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.pcgamer.com\/hardware\/ssds\/teamgroup-z540-2tb-nvme-ssd-review\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Teamgroup Z540 2TB<\/a>, the first of its ilk to make it into our <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.pcgamer.com\/hardware\/ssds\/teamgroup-z540-2tb-nvme-ssd-review\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">best SSD for gaming<\/a> guide). I&apos;ll be on the lookout for drives without <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.pcgamer.com\/holy-moly-ssds-need-serious-cooling-now\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ridiculous cooling solutions<\/a> that look like they might make a worthy upgrade to a Gen 4 drive-equipped machine.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>I&apos;ve also <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.pcgamer.com\/transparent-screens-have-been-turning-up-at-trade-shows-for-years-but-i-still-cant-work-out-why-youd-really-want-one\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">yet to be impressed by transparent displays<\/a>, so if I find one that looks like it might be useful for anything other than a shiny distraction, I&apos;ll be sure to let you know.<\/p>\n<p>Anyways, wish me luck, Dear Readers.
