This follows yesterday&#8217;s news that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gameinformer.com\/news\/2024\/05\/07\/xbox-is-shutting-down-arkane-austin-tango-gameworks-and-more\">Microsoft was shutting down<\/a> Arkane Austin, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gameinformer.com\/review\/hi-fi-rush\/riff-city\">Hi-Fi Rush<\/a> developer Tango Gameworks, Mighty Doom studio Alpha Dog Games, and absorbing Roundhouse Games into ZeniMax Online Studios.<\/p>\n<p>This offline play update would have addressed one of players&#8217; biggest complaints with the game \u2013 that Redfall always requires a connection to the internet \u2013 but now that update will never see the light of day. It&#8217;s an especially concerning detail considering now that Arkane Austin is closed, the day when Redfall servers are no longer live, rendering the game unplayable, seems closer than ever before.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p> <iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameBorder=\"0\" allow=\"autoplay\" allowfullscreen=\"\" frameborder=\"0\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/NqJMhCTo4Tw\" width=\"640\"><\/iframe> <\/p>\n<p><em>IGN<\/em>&nbsp;also reports that it was told the now-canceled Hero Pass, which would have added two additional playable characters to Redfall, was scheduled for release around Halloween. It obviously won&#8217;t be released now \u2013 Bethesda says those who purchased the Hero Pass will be eligible &#8220;to receive the value of the upgrade&#8221; \u2013 but if it had hit the game around Halloween, that would have been roughly 18 months after Redfall&#8217;s launch.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Redfall hit Xbox Series X\/S and PC on May 2 to poor reviews from critics \u2013 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gameinformer.com\/review\/redfall\/a-life-draining-trip-to-new-england\">read&nbsp;<em>Game Informer&#8217;s&nbsp;<\/em>review here<\/a> \u2013 and players alike, and the first-person multiplayer vampire shooter failed to recover, with Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer saying, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gameinformer.com\/2023\/05\/04\/xbox-head-phil-spencer-opens-up-about-redfalls-disappointing-launch-im-upset-with-myself\">&#8220;I&#8217;m upset with myself,&#8221; when asked about its launch<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>According to reports, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gameinformer.com\/news\/2023\/06\/01\/some-arkane-staff-reportedly-hoped-microsoft-might-cancel-redfall-or-reboot-it-as\">some of Arkane Austin&#8217;s staff hoped Microsoft might cancel Redfall<\/a> or reboot it as a single player game, following the former&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gameinformer.com\/2020\/09\/21\/microsoft-acquires-bethesda-the-studio-behind-fallout-the-elder-scrolls-doom-and-more\">acquisition of ZeniMax Media in 2020 for $7.5 billion<\/a>.
