Meanwhile, the publisher has announced that it&#8217;s sold <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vg247.com\/games\/company-of-heroes\">Company of Heroes<\/a> developer Relic, which now plans to go independent.<\/p>\n<p>This news is the latest to break in what&#8217;s been a terrible year for games industry layoffs so far, especially among big publishers, with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vg247.com\/microsoft-lays-of-1900-staff-from-its-video-game-division\">Microsoft having laid off 1,900 staff from its video game division<\/a> in late January, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vg247.com\/playstation-announces-plans-to-lay-off-900-people-will-close-london-studio\">PlayStation having let 900 staff go just last month<\/a>. While the numbers involved in these cuts aren&#8217;t as huge, they do also follow <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gamesindustry.biz\/sega-of-america-to-lay-off-61-employees\">SEGA of America laying off 61 people earlier this year<\/a>, after <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vg247.com\/sega-of-america-accused-of-moving-to-lay-off-temporary-staff\">announcing plans to &#8220;phase out&#8221; tepmorary workers in controversial fashion late last year<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>According to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gamesindustry.biz\/sega-sells-relic-and-will-cut-240-jobs-across-uk-studios\">GamesIndustry.biz<\/a>, most of the layoffs are set to affect staff at Creative Assembly and Sega Europe, while Hardlight will seemigly see a smaller number of cuts.
