The publication says its sources pointed to laid-off staff posting about the job cuts on LinkedIn, but has since received confirmation from CI Games.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s currently unclear how many people 10 percent of the company translates, too, considering CI Games is a publisher that also owns studios like Lords of the Fallen developer Hexworks and Sniper Ghost Warrior developer Underdog Studio.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p> <iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameBorder=\"0\" allow=\"autoplay\" allowfullscreen=\"\" frameborder=\"0\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/A5Cqn5WnAto\" width=\"640\"><\/iframe> <\/p>\n<p>CI Games CEO Marek&nbsp;Tymi\u0144ski told&nbsp;<em>GamesIndustry.biz<\/em>&nbsp;the following:&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;To preserve business strength and stability, CI Games has made the tough but necessary decision to implement a targeted round of redundancies, affecting approximately 10 percent of employees across the company,&#8221;&nbsp;Tymi\u0144ski told&nbsp;<em>GamesIndustry.biz<\/em>. &#8220;We would like to thank each of them for the part they&#8217;ve played during their time with us.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Unsettlingly,&nbsp;Tymi\u0144ski seems to indicate more layoffs are on the horizon, possibly referring to job cuts as &#8220;optimization.&#8221;&nbsp;Tymi\u0144ski told&nbsp;<em>GamesIndustry.biz<\/em>, &#8220;Further business optimizations are being made to the organization&#8217;s pipelines and processes.&#8221;&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>These job cuts come after <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gameinformer.com\/review\/lords-of-the-fallen-2023\/a-flawed-return\">CI Games published Hexworks&#8217; Lords of the Fallen last year<\/a>, a Soulslike that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gamespress.com\/en-US\/LORDS-OF-THE-FALLEN-BREAKS-ONE-MILLION-SALES-MILESTONE-IN-10--CI-92894#:~:text=Monday%2C%2023rd%20October%202023%20%2D%20CI,have%20exceeded%20one%20million%20units.\">sold more than 1 million copies in less than two weeks<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>These CI Games layoffs join a string of other disheartening 2024 job cuts, which total more than 2,500.&nbsp;We recently learned&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gameinformer.com\/news\/2024\/01\/10\/unity-to-lay-off-1800-employees\">Unity would be laying off 1,800 people by the end of March<\/a>, and that&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gameinformer.com\/news\/2024\/01\/10\/twitch-to-lay-off-500-employees\">Twitch was laying off 500 employees<\/a>. Discord also announced&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gameinformer.com\/gamer-culture\/2024\/01\/12\/discord-lays-off-170-employees-due-to-overhiring#:~:text=Discord%20Lays%20Off%20170%20Employees%20Due%20To%20Overhiring%20%2D%20Game%20Informer\">it had laid off 170 employees<\/a>. Yesterday,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gameinformer.com\/news\/2024\/01\/17\/ptw-a-support-studio-thats-worked-with-capcom-and-blizzard-lays-off-45-people\"><em>Game Informer&nbsp;<\/em>covered layoffs happening at PTW<\/a>, a support studio that&#8217;s worked with companies like Blizzard and Capcom, and at SteamWorld Build company,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gameinformer.com\/news\/2024\/01\/17\/thunderful-group-the-company-behind-2023s-steamworld-build-to-lay-off-roughly-100\">Thunderful Group, which let go of roughly 100 people<\/a>. Earlier this morning,&nbsp;<em>Game Informer&nbsp;<\/em>covered news about <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gameinformer.com\/news\/2024\/01\/18\/dead-by-daylight-studio-behaviour-interactive-has-reportedly-laid-off-45-people\">Dead by Daylight developer Behaviour Interactive reportedly laying off 45 people<\/a>, too.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Last year, more than 10,000 people in the games industry or game-adjacent industries were laid off.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In January of last year,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gameinformer.com\/2023\/01\/19\/microsoft-layoffs-10000-people-amid-ongoing-activision-blizzard-acquisition\">Microsoft laid off 10,000 employees<\/a>&nbsp;amidst its ongoing&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gameinformer.com\/2022\/01\/18\/microsoft-and-xbox-acquire-activision-blizzard\">$69 billion acquisition of Activision Blizzard<\/a>, which&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gameinformer.com\/news\/2023\/10\/13\/microsoft-has-officially-acquired-activision-blizzard-for-69-billion\">it completed in October<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Striking Distance Studios, the team behind 2022&#8217;s&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gameinformer.com\/review\/the-callisto-protocol\/morsels-of-fun-in-a-far-too-familiar-space\">The Callisto Protocol<\/a>, laid off&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gameinformer.com\/2023\/08\/03\/the-callisto-protocol-developer-striking-distance-suffers-over-30-layoffs\">more than 30 employees<\/a>&nbsp;in August of 2023.
