As far as why, there\u2019s no official reason as of yet but considering Netflix\u2019s past, it\u2019s likely that <em>Resident Evil<\/em> didn\u2019t meet expectations in terms of both critical and audience response. The show will now join many other shows canceled after just one season at the streamer including <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gameinformer.com\/gamer-culture\/2021\/08\/23\/first-look-at-netflixs-cowboy-bebop-with-new-set-photos-release-date\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Cowboy Bebop<\/a><\/em>, <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gameinformer.com\/review\/the-dark-crystal-age-of-resistance-tactics\/the-dark-crystal-age-of-resistance-tactics-review\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance<\/a><\/em>, and more.<\/p>\n<p><em>Deadline<\/em> notes that <em>Resident Evil\u2019s<\/em> release came right after the highly anticipated Season 4 of Stranger <em>Things<\/em>, which might have led to its less-than-stellar first weekend on the service. However, the series still debuted in the number two spot, behind <em>Stranger Things<\/em>, pulling in 72.7 million watch hours. <em>Deadline<\/em> reports that viewers watched&nbsp;<em>Resident Evil<\/em> for 73.3 million hours in its second week, taking the number three spot on Netflix, before dropping out of Netflix\u2019s Top 10 by week three.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>This isn\u2019t Netflix\u2019s first foray into the world of Resident Evil, though. Its 2021 movie, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gameinformer.com\/2021\/07\/08\/netflixs-resident-evil-tv-series-infinite-darkness-is-now-available\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>Resident Evil Infinite Darkness<\/em><\/a>, holds that title, but that&nbsp;anime series wasn\u2019t well-received either.
