However, PlayStation seemingly had other (accidental) plans as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gameinformer.com\/2022\/06\/09\/the-last-of-us-remake-is-real-and-its-out-this-september\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the publisher leaked everything about Part I<\/a> hours before its official reveal.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Keighley and The Last of Us director Neil Druckmann took shots at PlayStation during the showcase, and it was clear the two were upset about the leak. Nonetheless, The Last of Us remake is real, and it\u2019s out on Sept. 2. With all that behind it now, fans have begun to focus on the visual updates of Part I, which has seemingly split the community.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"tw-align-center twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Tess&#8217; glow up \u2728<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Wersching?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@Wersching<\/a><\/p>\n<p>9 years ago vs. September 2, 2022 &#8212; <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/TheLastofUs?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#TheLastofUs<\/a> Part I <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/jDoT9bMmL1\">pic.twitter.com\/jDoT9bMmL1<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Naughty Dog (@Naughty_Dog) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Naughty_Dog\/status\/1536854906056822785?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">June 14, 2022<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Some people love the new look and visual upgrades. Joel, Ellie, and others look more like The Last of Us Part II versions of themselves, perhaps even better. Others, though, don\u2019t feel these visual upgrades were necessary, citing how impressive The Last of Us (and its 2014 remaster) already are. Then there\u2019s the $70 price tag \u2013 are these Part I upgrades and updates worth the price of a brand new Sony first-party title, or should this game have been a little cheaper?&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p> <iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameBorder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"\" frameborder=\"0\" height=\"100%\" scrolling=\"no\" src=\"https:\/\/gfycat.com\/ifr\/WhimsicalUnequaledIndianrockpython\" style=\"position:absolute;top:0;left:0;\" width=\"100%\"><\/iframe> <iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameBorder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"\" frameborder=\"0\" height=\"100%\" scrolling=\"no\" src=\"https:\/\/gfycat.com\/ifr\/RightSolidHerald\" style=\"position:absolute;top:0;left:0;\" width=\"100%\"><\/iframe> <\/p>\n<p>Personally, I do think the $70 price tag is a little steep as it stands today, but I think the potential for this to be worth that price is very much present. Druckmann told Keighley that Part I isn\u2019t just about the visuals. The studio reworked the combat, significantly improved the AI, and it runs at 60 frames per second (or at least has a 60 FPS mode).<\/p>\n<p>As someone who replayed The Last of Us in 2020 leading up to Part II, those aspects of it, especially the AI and combat, showed their age. I\u2019m glad Naughty Dog reworked them. Had Part I just been about graphical fidelity, I\u2019m not sure I\u2019d agree with the $70 price tag. But if these other changes are as significant as Druckmann said, then I\u2019ll be okay with it.
