Employees working at the office have either been asked to evacuate or go to the roof of the building. This story is developing.<\/p>\n<p><span><span>News of the situation began circulating first on Twitter, with a small group of bystanders&nbsp;sharing videos of police near the Ubisoft Montreal office. According to one eyewitness near the event, updating on Twitter, they <\/span><\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/jesseds\/status\/1327319581002784768?s=20\"><span><span><span><span>saw people<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a><span><span> coming out of the office with their hands in the air as cops had guns pointed towards the building. All employees currently working in Ubisoft&#8217;s Montreal office have <\/span><\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/jesseds\/status\/1327326661818396673?s=20\"><span><span><span><span>reportedly<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a><span><span> been sent to the building&#8217;s roof.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span>Eric Pope, a senior community manager at Ubisoft Montreal, has shared footage from a local news broadcast of the unfolding situation in a since-deleted tweet.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Numerous Ubisoft employees have posted to Twitter to either <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/GavinDYoung\/status\/1327328944052461569\"><span><span>say they are safe<\/span><\/span><\/a><span> or wish their <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/AymarMtl\/status\/1327325339761082368?s=20\"><span><span>colleagues well<\/span><\/span><\/a><span>. Due to the ongoing police operation in the area, the Montreal police department <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/SPVM\/status\/1327328637323014147\"><span><span>is asking<\/span><\/span><\/a><span> people to stay away from the near vicinity.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span>A motive for the situation is currently unknown. Reached for comment on the situation, a&nbsp;Ubisoft spokesperson told Game Informer, &#8220;<\/span><\/span>We are aware of the situation and working with local authorities.&#8221; Montreal Police are <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/spvm\/status\/1327342860404973568?s=21\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">currently reporting<\/a> no injuries.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span><span>As&nbsp;<em>The Post Millennial&nbsp;<\/em>is <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/TPostMillennial\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">reporting on its Twitter account<\/a>, ambulances and a heavy police force have responded to the scene.&nbsp;<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Speaking to&nbsp;<em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.lapresse.ca\/actualites\/justice-et-faits-divers\/2020-11-13\/importante-intervention-policiere-en-cours-pres-des-locaux-d-ubisoft.php?fbclid=IwAR3BcjaIItYAenqGzF4NK_WeTCl73aXz0p2pc1Y1FsHCEUODbp657O0gTUU\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Le Presse<\/a><\/em>&nbsp;(translation via <span><span><span><span><a href=\"https:\/\/thepostmillennial.com\/breaking-possible-hostage-situation-at-ubisoft-montreal\">The Post Millennial<\/a><em>)<\/em><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>, a spokesperson for the Montreal police said, &#8220;We received a call for robbery in a commercial space.&#8221; The police are still in the verification process, the spokesperson said.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>More footage of the scene is continuing to come out. Dozens of Ubisoft Montreal employees can be seen on the roof of their building in live footage from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tvanouvelles.ca\/2020\/11\/13\/important-operation-policiere-pres-dubisoft\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">TV&nbsp;Nouvelles<\/a> and below from Twitter user Shane B.
