To learn more about the proceedings thus far, including details listed in the lawsuit against Activision Blizzard, please check out our previous <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gameinformer.com\/2021\/07\/22\/lawsuit-document-against-activision-blizzard-details-a-long-history-of-harassment-and\">coverage here<\/a>.<\/aside>\n<p>Activision Blizzard has stated in a new court filing that its CEO, Bobby Kotick, and Microsoft have not discussed what his potential employment status will be following the completion of Microsoft\u2019s acquisition of the company.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>This news comes by way of <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/stephentotilo\/status\/1515880416011595788?s=20&#038;t=z18vTZGlqiRCXq5HcrWEOg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>Axios\u2019<\/em> Stephen Totilo on Twitter<\/a>, who noted over the weekend that on Friday, April 15, Activision Blizzard added a line to its main filing about its planned sale to Microsoft.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Here\u2019s what the new line is, in full<\/strong>:\u00a0<\/p>\n<p> \u201cNo discussions or negotiations regarding post-closing employment arrangements with Microsoft occurred between Microsoft and Mr. Kotick prior to the approval and execution of the merger agreement and the transactions contemplated thereby, or have occurred subsequent to such approval and execution, through the date hereof.\u201d\u00a0 <\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"tw-align-center twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\" xml:lang=\"en\">On Friday, Activision added a line to its main filing about the planned sale to Microsoft, stressing that Microsoft and Bobby Kotick haven&#8217;t discussed nor negotiated his post-merger employment status.<a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/w9N3sXZM2g\">https:\/\/t.co\/w9N3sXZM2g<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Hmmm <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/dWqhxj8TbG\">pic.twitter.com\/dWqhxj8TbG<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Stephen Totilo (@stephentotilo) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/stephentotilo\/status\/1515880416011595788?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">April 18, 2022<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>As you can see, it\u2019s quite clear in meaning: Kotick and Microsoft have not discussed plans for Kotick and his role, if any, at\u00a0the company following Microsoft\u2019s purchase of Activsion Blizzard.<\/p>\n<p>This filing update comes amidst ongoing calls for Kotick to resign in light of everything that\u2019s been happening at the publisher-studio company over the past year. That includes months of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gameinformer.com\/2021\/07\/22\/lawsuit-document-against-activision-blizzard-details-a-long-history-of-harassment-and\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">lawsuit filings that detail harassment, discrimination, and more at Activision Blizzard<\/a>. Kotick <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gameinformer.com\/2021\/11\/16\/report-bobby-kotick-knew-of-activision-blizzards-history-of-sexual-misconduct-employees\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reportedly knew of the publisher\u2019s history of sexual misconduct<\/a>, too, and said <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gameinformer.com\/2021\/11\/22\/bobby-kotick-to-consider-resigning-if-workplace-issues-arent-fixed-soon-update\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">he would consider resigning if the company\u2019s workplace issues aren\u2019t fixed soon<\/a> (although, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gameinformer.com\/2021\/11\/16\/report-bobby-kotick-knew-of-activision-blizzards-history-of-sexual-misconduct-employees\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Activision Blizzard walkouts demanding his resignation<\/a> have already occurred).\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In light of all that, many have speculated that Kotick would receive what\u2019s known as a \u201cgolden parachute\u201d upon the closing of the acquisition. This parachute would seem him step down from his position as Activision Blizzard CEO with a hefty amount of money in his pocket to do so after the merger\u00a0.
