Gen Z communities are very interconnected, and global trends spread fast thanks to the social nature of the platform. However, we did spot a few differences from the global ranking in different markets.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">For example, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.roblox.com\/games\/185655149\/Welcome-to-Bloxburg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Welcome to Bloxburg<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> and <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.roblox.com\/games\/4616652839\/Shindo-Life\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Shindo Life<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> ranked among the Top 10 Most Visited Experiences in the USA, while <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.roblox.com\/games\/3457390032\/NEW-HOMES-Club-Roblox\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Club Roblox<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> popped up in the Top 10 Most Visited Experiences in the United Kingdom and Germany. <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.roblox.com\/games\/4954752502\/Tower-of-Misery\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Tower of Misery<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> drew in users from Germany. And <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.roblox.com\/games\/6299805723\/UPD-16-x2-Anime-Fighters-Simulator\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Anime Fighters Simulator<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, which launched in 2021, featured in the top rankings in Brazil. Meanwhile, in the APAC market, Japanese users\u2019 visits pushed experiences like <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.roblox.com\/games\/6205205961\/Escape-Running-Head\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Escape Running Head<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> and <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.roblox.com\/games\/6507422231\/Twilight-Daycare-NEW-COSTUME\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Twilight Daycare<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> into their top 10, while South Korea\u2019s top 10 includes <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.roblox.com\/games\/4872321990\/Islands-HOLIDAY\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Islands<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> and features <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.roblox.com\/games\/4520749081\/Update-2-5-King-Legacy\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">King Legacy<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> as the second most visited experience after <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.roblox.com\/games\/6872265039\/BedWars-2-HOURS\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">BedWars<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Finally, the list of countries where people spent the most time connecting and creating on the platform in 2021 reflects Roblox\u2019 status as a major social hub in certain markets. Presence on this list indicates at least hundreds of millions of hours spent on the platform, with the top seven surpassing one billion hours.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-40433\" src=\"https:\/\/arcader.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/a-year-on-roblox-2021-in-data-1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1920\" height=\"1080\" \/><\/b><\/p>\n<h3><b>WHERE ARE USERS 17+ SPENDING TIME ON ROBLOX?\u00a0<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">When we looked at the different age groups on the platform (under 13, 13-17, and over 17) and their preferences in content, we saw some similarities, including <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.roblox.com\/games\/4924922222\/Brookhaven-RP\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Brookhaven<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> at the top across all age groups. Much like the platform, many of the popular experiences have aged up meaningfully between 2020 and 2021, adding users from the 17+ audience. For example, experiences on the list of Top 10 Most Visited on Roblox, such as <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.roblox.com\/games\/4996049426\/UPDATES-All-Star-Tower-Defense\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">All Star Tower Defense<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.roblox.com\/games\/2753915549\/UPDATE-16-Blox-Fruits\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Blox Fruits<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, and <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.roblox.com\/games\/4616652839\/Shindo-Life\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Shindo Life<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, had over 40% of their users in the 17+ year-old group in 2021.<\/span><b>\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">With our fastest-growing demographic being 17-to-24-year-olds, the Roblox developer community is tackling this expanding market with new content updates and more complex experiences featuring stunning visuals and effects. Consider, for instance, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.roblox.com\/games\/4111023553\/Deepwoken\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Deepwoken<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, a fantasy roleplaying adventure focused on unraveling mysteries, the fast-paced <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.roblox.com\/games\/4410049285\/Driving-Simulator\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Driving Simulator<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, or the upcoming action-packed <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.roblox.com\/games\/7686955826\/Rolling-Thunder\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Rolling Thunder<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> that developers teased in a demo. Reflecting on real-life trends, community members bought a variety of face masks to wear on their avatar, with the #2 most sold item being a black <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.roblox.com\/catalog\/5700137935\/Medical-Mask-Black\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Medical Mask<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> and #5 being a white <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.roblox.com\/catalog\/5700133881\/Medical-Mask-White\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Medical Mask<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">. Both items were made by the same creator, who encouraged community members to \u201cstay safe and spread awareness about how much masks can make an impact.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>TRENDS IN THE DEVELOPER AND CREATOR COMMUNITY<\/b><b>\u00a0<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Our creator community comes from 170 countries and represents people from all walks of life, very different cultural backgrounds, and demographics, which is reflected in the content created on the platform. This community has already become a driving force in pioneering a more inclusive metaverse, and it\u2019s incredible to see <\/span><b>a triple-digit percentage surge year over year in the number of new creators that have used our free immersive creation engine <\/b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.roblox.com\/create\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><b>Roblox Studio<\/b><\/a><b> for the first time. <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The overall share of female creators (based on the number of active Studio users) is also increasing. Thus, they are expanding the ways our community members from around the world can express themselves in a way that\u2019s relevant to them.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>HOW DO CONTENT PREFERENCES ON THE PLATFORM DIFFER BY GENDER?<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">When we look at the types of experiences that users of different gender identities enjoy on the platform, we see<\/span><b> role-playing experiences being popular across all groups<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> (with at least two such experiences across all top 10s). <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.roblox.com\/games\/4924922222\/Brookhaven-RP\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Brookhaven<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> is the #1 most visited experience for both male and female users (<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">users who chose to specify their gender as either male or female on the platform<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">), as well as for the 10% of our users who either don\u2019t identify as male or female, or didn&#8217;t select a specific gender preference (<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">which is optional on Roblox<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Action-packed experiences were very popular among male users, as were simulators<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u2014<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">comprising two of the top five genres<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u2014<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">and some strategy experiences.
