To learn more about the proceedings thus far, including details listed in the lawsuit against Activision Blizzard, please check out our previous\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gameinformer.com\/2021\/07\/22\/lawsuit-document-against-activision-blizzard-details-a-long-history-of-harassment-and\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">coverage here<\/a>.<\/aside>\n<p>Activision attempted to put an end to cheating in its Call of Duty games with last year&#8217;s release of Ricochet, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.callofduty.com\/content\/atvi\/callofduty\/blog\/web\/en\/home\/2021\/10\/ricochet-anti-cheat-initiative-for-call-of-duty.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">its new kernel anti-cheat system<\/a>, and now, it&#8217;s taking legal action against one of the biggest cheat distributors out there.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>First reported by <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gamesindustry.biz\/articles\/2022-01-05-activision-files-lawsuit-against-cheat-provider\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">GamesIndustry.biz<\/a><\/em>, Activison\u00a0filed a <a href=\"https:\/\/s3.documentcloud.org\/documents\/21173574\/activision-publishing-v-engineowning-ug.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">lawsuit<\/a> against EngineOwning, a Germany-based website &#8220;engaged in the development, sale, distribution, marketing, and exploitation of a portfolio of malicious cheats and hacks for popular online multiplayer games, most prominently the [Call of Duty] games.&#8221;\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.gameinformer.com\/2022\/01\/05\/activision-taking-legal-action-against-call-of-duty-cheat-distributor\" rel=\"noopener\">Click here to watch embedded media<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The suit was officially filed yesterday, January 4, in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California. It specifically targets &#8220;trafficking in circumvention devices&#8221; \u2013 presumably the circumvention of Ricochet \u2013\u00a0as well as &#8220;intentional interference with contractual relations and unfair competition.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Cheats distributed by EngineOwning include auto-fire, auto-aim,\u00a0location reveal cheats, and more,\u00a0and can cost players anywhere from roughly $5 for a few days of use to nearly $15 for three months of service.
