The partnership hasn\u2019t been solidified yet, but a Sega-Microsoft joint effort could lead to the creation of \u201clarge-scale, global games.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span>An <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sega.co.jp\/en\/release\/211101_1.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">article<\/a> on the official Sega website provides more context for the entertainment company\u2019s Microsoft-supported plans. Sega\u2019s chief goal is to develop \u201cSuper Game(s),\u201d with the specific focus being on keywords like \u201cGlobal,\u201d \u201cOnline,\u201d \u201cCommunity,\u201d and \u201cIP utilization.\u201d We might be in for a new era of Sega-published\/developed multiplayer games based on the recurring theme. Perhaps, even MMOs. But that\u2019s all speculation.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span>Sega Corporation president and COO, Yukio Sugino, chimed in on his excitement for the partnership and the recent announcement as a whole:\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span>\u201cWe are very pleased to announce today that we are considering a strategic alliance with Microsoft to help develop SEGA\u2019s new &#8216;Super Game&#8217;\u00a0initiative as well as build a next-generation game development environment. By considering a strategic partnership with Microsoft, we seek to further advance our game development so that our titles can be enjoyed by fans all over the world; in this regard, we aim to build an alliance that utilizes both SEGA\u2019s powerful game development capabilities and Microsoft\u2019s cutting-edge technology and development environment.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span>In a similar vein, Sarah Bond, the CVP of Microsoft, voiced the conglomerate\u2019s respect for Sega\u2019s historical pedigree and emphasized the utilization of cloud-based capabilities:\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span>\u201cSEGA has played such an iconic role in the gaming industry and has been a tremendous partner over the years. We look forward to working together as they explore new ways to create unique gaming experiences for the future using Microsoft cloud technologies.
