Today\u2019s Animal Crossing New Horizons direct confirmed that Brewster\u2019s coffee shop, The Roost, is coming to islands in-game alongside new features and returning ones from previous Animal Crossing games on November 5.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Nintendo hinted that The Roost would be making its way to Animal Crossing New Horizons when it announced today\u2019s direct a couple of weeks ago, and now Brewster\u2019s return has been confirmed. Fans familiar with this bird\u2019s coffee shop will recognize everything you can do in The Roost, although it does offer some fun additions.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/p>\n

For starters, Brewster will make you coffee as you sit at The Roost\u2019s bar and your neighbors will join you occasionally as well. On top of that, Amiibo cards and figures can be used to invite characters to The Roost and some of them might even bring their own friends. You, online friends, residents, and Amiibo visitors alike can all enjoy the coffee shop at the same time.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Another new Animal Crossing New Horizons feature announced during today\u2019s direct was Kapp\u2019n, a frog that owns a boat. They\u2019ll serenade you with sea shanties on the ocean blue as they take you to \u201ca hidden gem only Kapp\u2019n knows about.\u201d At this hidden island, you might find mysterious flora, islands in different seasons of the year, environments during different times of the day, and more.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Fans of Animal Crossing New Leaf were likely surprised by what Harv\u2019s photography island is becoming as it\u2019s essentially taking on the central shopping hub from that 3DS title. His photography studio will still be present, but Harv is using his island to create a new plaza for new and returning characters to inhabit.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

You can contribute Bells to help speed up the development of Harv’s\u00a0plaza,\u00a0and in no time, you\u2019ll see people like Cryus, the furniture maker, set up shop alongside Katrina, who will reveal your fortune for the day. Other business owners showcased during the Direct include Harriet, who can give you new hairstyles that you can use back on your island, Tortimer, and more.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

New Leaf fans will also be happy to see the return of Gyroids. While digging up cracks in the ground will still bring fossils to the surface sometimes, now, players might find Gyroid Fragments. Water these and let them grow overnight into Gyroids and then display them anywhere you\u2019d like. Gyroids are strange devices that make odd noises (sometimes in tune with the music that might be playing) and come in many shapes and sizes.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

One new feature that will make island living much easier is the addition of Ordinances. These allow you to control when your neighbors are out and about. For example, if you choose a morning ordinance, which would be great for someone that can only play New Horizons in the morning, your island residents will spend their time outside and awake during the morning (rather than a different time of day).\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Joining Ordinances in the \u201cnew\u201d category of announcements today is cooking. Players can now collect DIY recipes and create new ones by combining homegrown ingredients such as tomatoes, wheat, sugarcane, potatoes, carrots, and more to create delicious meals that can be displayed in kitchens, living rooms, parks, and really, wherever you\u2019d like.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
