According to Deadline, Nightdive\u00a0has owned the rights to System Shock since purchasing it from the now-defunct Looking Glass Studios in 2012.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.gameinformer.com\/2021\/10\/13\/live-action-system-shock-series-in-the-works-will-air-exclusively-on-binge\" rel=\"noopener\">Click here to watch embedded media<\/a><\/p>\n<p><span><span>More specifically, Nightdive Studios founder Stephen Kick and director of business development Larry Kuperman will be executive producers for the series. Allan Ungar, who directed the <\/span><\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gameinformer.com\/gamer-culture\/2018\/07\/16\/14-minute-uncharted-fan-film-stars-nathan-fillion-and-you-can-watch-it\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span><span><span><span>fan-made Uncharted short film featuring Nathan Fillion as Nathan Drake<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a><span><span>, is Binge<em>\u2019s<\/em> chief content officer and will produce the series.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span>\u201cI\u2019ve always believed that a live-action adaptation of System Shock would be the perfect medium to retell the harrowing story of Citadel Station and its rogue AI that subjects the crew to unimaginable horror,\u201d Kick said. \u201cWe\u2019re very excited to see the talented team at Binge bring System Shock to life in horrifyingly real and new ways.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span>Ungar told <em>Deadline<\/em> that Binge believes System Shock helped redefine what it means to play an FPS and that this series will do right by it and that genre.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span>As noted by <em>Deadline<\/em>, System Shock joins a lineup of other video game live-action series adaptations in the works at <em>Binge<\/em>. The platform is also working on a live-action series based on <\/span><\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gameinformer.com\/games\/driver_san_francisco\/b\/xbox360\/archive\/2011\/09\/06\/a-san-francisco-treat.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span><span><span><span>Ubisoft\u2019<em>s<\/em> Driver<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a><span><span>.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span>System Shock is a 1994 game developed by Looking Glass Studios that helped pave the way for franchises like <\/span><\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gameinformer.com\/games\/bioshock_the_collection\/b\/playstation4\/archive\/2016\/08\/16\/nine-years-later-bioshock-the-collection-makes-rapture-actually-look-like-you-remember-it.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span><span><span><span>BioShock<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a><span><span>, <\/span><\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gameinformer.com\/games\/dishonored\/b\/xbox360\/archive\/2012\/10\/07\/dishonoredreview.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span><span><span><span>Dishonored<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a><span><span>, and more. It\u2019s about a rogue AI named SHODAN that essentially takes over a space station and reprograms\/mutates everything aboard the station to kill you.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gameinformer.com\/product\/system-shock-remastered\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span><span><span><span>Nightdive Studios is working on a remake of System Shock<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a><span><span> that\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/store.steampowered.com\/app\/482400\/System_Shock\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">available for pre-order now<\/a>. It also received a <\/span><\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gameinformer.com\/2021\/02\/25\/system-shock-remastered-pre-orders-go-live-final-demo-also-available\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span><span><span><span>final demo<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a><span><span> earlier this year.
