In late 2019, No Man\u2019s Sky<\/em> developer Hello Games added a full-blown synthesizer<\/a> to the ever-expanding space game, allowing fans to create their own melodies. And in 2020, explorers who are a part of the fan-run Galactic Hub group<\/a> have come together to build in-game colonies where the dance party never stops, courtesy of that musical update.<\/p>\n

Internally, fans refer to these colonies as the \u201cDual Rave Planets,\u201d because they are meant to complement one another, color-wise. Both are bioluminescent worlds that exist on the same planetary system, with one taking on more of a red hue, and the other more tinted toward blue. Hub founder Galactic Geographic tells Polygon that the two planets are some of the \u201cmore complex\u201d creations in the collective, because participants are required to use strobes, electric displays, and the synthesizer to make music. Unlike most settlements, the dual rave planets require folks to master a new skill. <\/p>\n

\u201cI used to be a raver in high school so I thought it\u2019d be fun to celebrate the whole PLUR culture<\/a> and that bioluminescent planets would be the perfect spot to do so,\u201d he said, referencing the \u201cpeace, love, unity, and respect\u201d guidelines that the raving scene has adopted to maintain a more harmonious community. \u201cIt\u2019s a good message too,\u201d he added. <\/p>\n

The red planet, Electric Diplo Carnival, is a lush world full of giant neon mushrooms. The name is a reference to Electric Daisy Carnival, which is the largest electronic dance festival in North America \u2014 but Galactic Geographic notes that the planet doesn\u2019t actually house the extremely rare Diplo dinosaur<\/a>. <\/p>\n

The blue planet, meanwhile, is Lepios. Here, ravers can spot an endless stream of meteor showers overhead as they dance under the stars. After all, No Man\u2019s Sky<\/em> also gives players dancing emotes \u2014 which fans take advantage of while visiting.<\/p>\n

While some are content building musical stages or some form of pixel art, others, like Reddit user luckyremina<\/a>, have paired their musical inventions with small-scale games. In the video below, you\u2019ll see that the player can shoot orbs into a floating target while lights flash and the tunes flow. <\/p>\n

Construction began in early fall, and now the settlements \u2014 which can hold up to thirty bases max \u2014 are completed and ready for viewing. The game, meanwhile, has received a handful of new updates this year, with the last one adding millions of new planets, diversity in the flora and fauna<\/a>, and even sandworms<\/a>. No Man\u2019s Sky<\/em> is also now available for Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5<\/a>, complete with a bevy of graphical updates. <\/p>\n
