Fortnite<\/strong> looks to be ready to go beyond battle royale with an upcoming mode called Daybreak. Files for the new mode were datamined in today’s v16.40 patch.<\/p>\n

According to Fortnite Intel<\/a>, Daybreak is a limited-time mode that rewards players an exclusive umbrella for their first win. Although the files themselves don’t reveal much, they do confirm that Daybreak will feature NPCs, and monsters\/marauders for players to fight.<\/p>\n

The main quest appears to be repairing a helicopter and escaping the island. That island has actually leaked earlier this month, courtesy of noted leaker Hypex. In one of the documents presented in its trial with Apple, Epic Games described Daybreak as an “open world simulation sandbox mode,” suggesting there’s more to it than just this LTM.<\/p>\n

The idea is that some of the mechanics introduced with Chapter 2 Season 6, such as crafting and hunting<\/a>, will come into a play in Daybreak.<\/p>\n
