This will be the best time to grab a Shiny pink Magmar. Though Magmar and Magmortar aren\u2019t particularly \u201cmeta\u201d Pok\u00e9mon<\/a>, it has a great Shiny, so you might as well try to grab one or two.<\/p>\n

How do I get a Shiny Magmar?<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Since Magmar will be popping up everywhere, just tap every Magmar you see until you get a Shiny one. You\u2019ll find one sooner or later, as the Shiny rate on Community Days is boosted to about a one in 24 rate.<\/p>\n

What special move does Magmortar learn?<\/strong><\/h2>\n

When evolved from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m. on Nov. 21, Magmortar will learn Thunderbolt. Thunderbolt isn\u2019t great on Magmortar for PvP or raiding, so you might want to avoid evolving it during the time period.<\/p>\n

How do I make the most of this Community Day?<\/strong><\/h2>\n

During the event, eggs will hatch four times as fast when they\u2019re placed into Incubators and Incense will last three times as long. Shove all your eggs into Incubators during the event and catch a ton of Magmar to make the most of it.<\/p>\n

Magmortar isn\u2019t fit for PvP and it\u2019s an OK fire-type raider, but there are much better options. It only cracks the ranks among the other fire-types when it\u2019s Shadow Magmortar, so make sure to grab a Shadow Magmar if you see one when taking down Team Go Rocket baddies.<\/p>\n

For raiding, give Magmortar Fire Spin<\/strong> with either Fire Blast<\/strong> or Fire Punch<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

If you\u2019re deciding which Shiny Magmar to evolve at the end of the day, try using one of the new search strings. Sort your \u2018mons by \u201crecent<\/strong>\u201d using the lower right icon, and then type \u201c4*<\/strong>\u201d in the search box at the top. This will let you know if you have any 100% IV Magmar. Most people won\u2019t be so lucky, so next you\u2019ll want to type \u201c3*<\/strong>\u201d in the search box, which will show you any recent \u2018mons that are 80% or above. Appraise these to see which one is best, and then evolve your new buddy!<\/p>\n
