Over a planetary vista reminiscent of Mass Effect 1&#8217;s start screen, we get a distinctive N7 red stripe and the message &#8220;Keelah si&#8217;yah, #SaveMassEffect&#8221; in the series&#8217; go-to &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/typodermicfonts.com\/korataki\/\" target=\"_blank\">Korataki<\/a>&#8221; font. Yes, today is when I too learned that Mass Effect used a commercially-available font called &#8220;Korataki&#8221; for its logo and in-game text. I kinda want to write all my drafts in it now.<\/p>\n<div class=\"see-more see-more--clipped\">\n<figure>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet hawk-ignore\" data-lang=\"en\" cite=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/cantworkitout\/status\/2114730231214883014\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">\ud83d\udea8 WE&#8217;RE IN TIMES SQUARE!Together with @kalaelizabeth, we&#8217;ve managed to get a #SaveMassEffect billboard up in Times Square, NYC, all day today!\ud83d\udccd 1560 Broadway, above the Pel\u00e9 store (Duffy Square)\u23f0 15 seconds every hour at :35HOLD THE LINE! \u2764\ufe0f https:\/\/t.co\/wNP9Ak9Vh8<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/cantworkitout\/status\/2114730231214883014\">October 26, 2026<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/figure>\n<div class=\"see-more__filter\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>&#8220;Keelah si&#8217;yah&#8221; is a phrase from the <a href=\"https:\/\/masseffect.fandom.com\/wiki\/Quarian\" target=\"_blank\">Quarian language<\/a> in the games. Continuing today&#8217;s theme of new discoveries about a series I&#8217;ve spent, like, 1,000 hours playing over 20 years, I learned that this language is called &#8220;Khellish.&#8221; The phrase means &#8220;by the homeworld I hope to find one day,&#8221; not to be confused with &#8220;keelah <em>se&#8217;lai<\/em>&#8221; or &#8220;by the homeworld I hope to <em>see<\/em> one day.&#8221; I was more familiar with the latter from the games.<\/p>\n<p>When we checked in on #SaveMassEffect yesterday, it was still at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pcgamer.com\/games\/mass-effect\/save-mass-effect-petition-hits-over-180-000-signatures-within-days-of-biowares-closure\/\" target=\"_blank\">180,000 signatures<\/a>, so pretty impressive momentum still. The petition&#8217;s demands are fairly broad: A commitment of any kind by EA to continue the series in videogame form (not just the Amazon TV series still in development), either internally or by licensing to another party.<\/p>\n<p>I know my ideal solution would be spinning off BioWare, either as an independent (potentially <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pcgamer.com\/games\/mass-effect\/canadian-politician-calls-on-government-to-help-bioware-employees-buy-the-studio-and-run-it-themselves\/\" target=\"_blank\">government-supported<\/a>) concern, or by selling it to a new corporate owner. The studio&#8217;s leaked trailer and reported vision for the canceled Mass Effect Universe struck me as both bold (600 years in the future but still <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pcgamer.com\/games\/mass-effect\/mass-effect-5-would-have-let-players-generate-alternate-timelines-based-on-their-choices-in-previous-games-according-to-the-series-technical-director\/\" target=\"_blank\">tracking choices from the original trilogy<\/a>) yet intriguingly specific (a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pcgamer.com\/games\/mass-effect\/mass-effect-5-was-set-in-a-galactic-cold-war-new-leak-claims-and-all-3-endings-were-wrapped-into-1\/\" target=\"_blank\">galactic spy thriller<\/a>). It reminds me of Joplin, the heist and intrigue-focused original pitch for Dragon Age 4 that was canceled in favor of Anthem.<\/p>\n<p>Out of curiosity, I looked up the cost of a Times Square billboard activation like this. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.plugtalk.media\/our-markets\/new-york\/nyc-billboards\/time-square-billboard-advertising\" target=\"_blank\">Plug Talk Media<\/a> lists its single day, 15-second share price as $1,200-$3,500 as a frame of reference.
