Like, people definitely patched some bugs,&#8221; the OpenAI CEO continues. &#8220;But it was another one of these cases where people didn&#8217;t really intuit the exponential.&#8221;<\/p>\n<div style=\"min-height: 250px;\">\n<div class=\"kwizly-quiz kwizly-WwgagW\"><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p> <script src=\"https:\/\/kwizly.com\/embed\/WwgagW.js\" async><\/script><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I don&#8217;t think most people said, okay, the models are going to get much smarter,&#8221; says Altman. &#8220;They can probably find bugs, like crazy bugs, you know, bugs that are outside of the normal threat model of what we think a hacker can do. Largely speaking, I think most organizational leaders have somewhat moved on, and the models have kept going.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;And I I no longer think we&#8217;re going to be able to just patch all the bugs. Especially coming from the CEO of a company that hit the headlines earlier this year after its own <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pcgamer.com\/software\/ai\/openai-admits-several-of-its-ai-models-breached-testing-and-hacked-into-a-startups-network-by-themselves-calling-it-an-unprecedented-cyber-incident\/\" target=\"_blank\">AI agents hacked their way into an outside organisation<\/a>.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"van-image-figure inline-layout\" data-bordeaux-image-check >\n<div class='image-full-width-wrapper'>\n<div class='image-widthsetter' style=\"max-width:1152px;\">\n<p class=\"vanilla-image-block\" style=\"padding-top:56.25%;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" id=\"WRRAUXqbGsgDwwb93woGtg\" name=\"OpenAIlogo\" alt=\"A smart phone lies screen up on an integrated laptop keyboard. Bad actors seem to be <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pcgamer.com\/software\/security\/every-single-week-its-going-to-feel-like-the-sky-is-falling-cloudflare-ceo-says-strap-in-for-a-couple-years-of-ai-powered-internet-security-mayhem\/\" target=\"_blank\">continually leveraging AI tech to further their nefarious goals<\/a>, and while AI models exposing vulnerabilities to be fixed might seem like a net gain, we seem to increasingly find ourselves caught in a battle between the forces of AI good, and the forces of AI evil.<\/p>\n<p>All of which is to say, here&#8217;s hoping the &#8220;good guys&#8221; win. Whoever they are at this point.
