{"id":1700649,"date":"2026-09-25T00:49:10","date_gmt":"2026-09-25T00:49:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/PzQLDoZX3LbLcvevq9QMCU"},"modified":"2026-09-25T00:49:10","modified_gmt":"2026-09-25T00:49:10","slug":"its-tough-to-stand-out-in-todays-games-industry-but-sorta-like-helldivers-2-except-dog-people-worked-on-me","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/arcader.org\/news\/its-tough-to-stand-out-in-todays-games-industry-but-sorta-like-helldivers-2-except-dog-people-worked-on-me\/","title":{"rendered":"It&#8217;s tough to stand out in today&#8217;s games industry, but &#8216;sorta like Helldivers 2 except dog people&#8217; worked on me"},"content":{"rendered":"<article>\n<p>Here are some reasons to try the <a href=\"https:\/\/store.steampowered.com\/news\/app\/2440760\/view\/684139458559214563\" target=\"_blank\">Gravhounds open playtest<\/a> on Steam:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>It&#8217;s free for the next few days and seems well put-together for a playtest of an unreleased early access game<\/li>\n<li>It&#8217;s a co-op wave shooter and those are basically always fun to muck around in with friends, at least for a bit<\/li>\n<li>The movement feels good, especially gliding across networks of buildable cables<\/li>\n<li>There&#8217;s a light resource mining and tower defense element that has potential<\/li>\n<li>You collect resources by hucking them across the map with a gravity gun, which is satisfying (just don&#8217;t do it with explosive materials, I learned)<\/li>\n<li>It doesn&#8217;t <em>really<\/em> play like Helldivers 2, it just replicates the home base spaceship setup, but it&#8217;s a good format, and the shooting is fun<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Also, you may have noticed that the characters are dogs with people bodies. <\/p>\n<p>Is that also a reason to try it? It did catch my attention, mainly because I find these particular dog people a bit unsettling. I felt the same way about Fox in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=SBKbRlPix2U\" target=\"_blank\">Star Fox remake<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>But you&#8217;ve got to stand out, right? Would I have tried Gravhouds if the characters looked like Helldivers 2 soldiers? I&#8217;m not sure.
